Happy New Year All!!

I have basically spent from Thanksgiving to New Years eating like crap and enjoying too many goodies and it's stopping. I know I ate nothing near what I used to but I kind of let my self slide for the Holidays. I'm totally ok with it and allowed it because that's life. I didn't gain and minimally lost and I'm ok with that too. I'm 13 months out and about 30-40lbs from my goal. I'll get there with the right mind.

So today, I'm back to work after 12 lovely days off, and I quit smoking today and I am starting a refined carb detox. If the carb doesn't come from a fruit or dairy it isn't going in my mouth. I think I will be quite the ***** for a few days LOL.

Anyway, how were your Holidays?

Good for you!  I was so glad to read that you were ok with your eating over the holidays.  That is the way it should be.  Feeling bad about how you are eating always seems to lead to more "bad" eating.  It isn't good nor bad, it is just life.  No matter what it is I eat as soon as it is in my mouth it is ok, no matter what it is.  Because once I have consumed it there is nothing I can do to change it.  If I am unhappy with the consequences of my eating I can deal with that but I can't undo the past, even if the past is only 5 minutes ago.  I can only learn and go forward and that sounds like what you are doing.  I am sure you will do great.

Thank you. I gave myself a little pass for the month of December and monitored my weight. I went down minimally but if I had gained I would have stopped it right away. I didn't go crazy but I didn't deprive either. I truly believe if I deprive myself of the things I am craving all the time, I will go crazy and eat everything in sight but I don't always give in. This whole thing is really a learning process and I am still learning every day.

Giving up carbs and cigs?  I'm glad I only have to "e" see you for a while!!  wink

You can do anything you set your mind to!  Go for your goals, and if you stumble, get up and keep on trucking!

I'm almost 4 years out.........3 in maintenance...and I allow myself to eat whatever I want during the holidays, but I do not allow myself to stop exercising.  I've not gained weight during any holiday period yet.  I'm always excited about January 2nd...by then I'm tired of the bad eating and excessive drinking and I'm ready for good, healthy meals again.  I'm also back on Myfitnesspal to keep myself focused on doing the right thing.

Sounds like you've got the right idea!  Like Ladytazz said, once you eat it, it is done.  No sense beating yourself up.  Gotta keep moving forward.  And, if you have a healthy relationship with food you are less likely to let it control you.

Happy New Year!

Yeah I figure I should avoid most human contact  for a few days at the very least LOL.

And you're right about being tired of the bad eating. I'm totally ready to be back on my eating schedule and eating right. I realized that last night when I was craving something sweet and I cut up an apple. I did work out most of December, just not the last two weeks (well, I walked but no GYM and no Jazzercise like usual).

Thanks for the words of encouragement. It's nice to hear from vets that are maintaining well :-)

Congrats on your decision.   I smoked 44 years and tried EVERY quit product out there, chantix being the last.  I finally quit (with the least pain of any quit ever) after I read the book "the easy way to quit smoking by Allan Carr".  I got it on Amazon for $10 and it was the best $10 I every spent.   My five month anniversary is tomorrow wink  It is not a scare tactic book, but an ex-4 pack a day smoker to another.  Alan Carr opened up clinics all over the world, then wrote the book.  He died of lung cancer a few years ago after being smoke free for around 20 years.   I encourage you to buy the book....it will help you tremendously!!!    Good luck!
