The medication I took was Bentyl (Dicyclomine).  It is also used for IBS.  It really helped me.  No promises, but it is an old drug and cheap.  Good luck!

I had a rectocele, which is a weakness where the rectum protrudes into the vagina.  It was there for years with no symptoms, but the rapid weight loss made it worse.  Fecal matter would get stuck behind the rectocele and would leak out.  My gynecologist fixed the problem for me,  There is still a bit of muscle weakness and I need to be careful and aware.

It is not necessarily due to your gastric bypass it is most likely due to your gallbladder being removed.  It is called Bile salts diarhea. you can due a search on it and you will get alot of information on it.  Basically after you have your gallbladder removed you no longer have a way to process the bile salts and it causes uncontrollable diarhea after eating any fatty foods.  It is almost like another form of dumping and it gets really bad.  It can get really bad.

I also had another type of true fecal incontinance for about a year and a half that has finally stopped the last few months.  In Oct 2010 on my 2 year anniversary I had a bowel obstruction, perforated colon and illiostomy.  When the ilostomy was reversed after 3 months, I had uncontrollable diarhea and severe fecal incontinance for over a year.  It was really bad = I had to sleep with a medical pad on my bed to avoid staining my sheets everynight because I had no way of knowing when I had to go during the night.

I hope things get better for you and if you avoid fatty foods and also dairy (lactose intolerance) = it should make things better for you.  good luck

I am 13 years out from my surgery and about 6 months ago I developed fecal incontinence.  YUCK.  I am so upset.  Don't really know what to do.  I have made an appt with a gastroenterologist but don't have much hope with that.  I have been reading a lot about high quality pro biotic but haven't tried them yet.  Anyone else have some helpful info?
