My RNY WLS is scheduled for February 22. I'm trying to figure out how much time I will probably need to take off of work. How much time off did you all have to take off of work?

I go back to work tomorrow after 7 weeks off:(  I felt fine after 3 days post surgery and could have gone back after 1 week.but chose to take extended leave. Good luck with your surgery!

I was required to take 2 weeks off. i had to be released before i could go back to work. if you lift or pull and tug during work then you may be required to take 3 weeks or longer.

2 weeks is typical though

I'm  retired but any lifting I would say 6 weeks.   Office job at least three weeks.  I am 3 weeks post op today and still get tired.  From what I read that is normal, and my doctor said our body has gone through major surgery, it takes time to heal and get energy back.

I stayed off for 4 weeks. I felt good after the first two but the extra two weeks helped me establish a routine for protein, meals, supplements and exercise. Plus by the time I went back to work I could eat food that looked "normal" in the break room.

I hope you have a smooth surgery & a speedy recovery.

I took 5 weeks. Could have gone back after 2 but was still tired and I had fmla and short term disability so I took what my doc offered and took 5 weeks off. So glad I did. Gave me time to get in purée stage and had more energy and was more use to my new life style. If you have to go back 2 weeks should be fine if dr ok'd, but if you can its nice to take extra time for yourself to learn as much as you can about your new pouch

I took 6 weeks off and should have taken more. I did have to have 2 surgeries, the second one almost 2 weeks after my original surgery because of complications. My job requires lifting and being on my feet. About 2 week after I went back to work I felt a lot better.

Office job - I took 2 full weeks off then worked 1/2 days the first week back.  The doctor told me he would give me as many weeks out as I wanted but I go stir crazy - I only took 2 weeks off and 1/2 days the first week back with my hysterectomy and TT with muscle tightening, too.  Having an office job helps because I could get up and move and walk when I needed to.  By week three, after all 3 surgeries, I was feeling fine and only watched my lifting.

I took 5 weeks off, I had a couple of small complications, and could have gone back after about 3 weeks, but I took the extra time just so I could get used to my new diet.
