Picture of Chow litter (my puppy is one of the cream ones) -- added parent pics
No. To be honest, I am not even sure how they determine who gets which puppy when there are several of the desired color and gender combination. When I got Khan, he had only one red male littermate (which they intended to keep), so they chose the one they wanted for breeding and gave me the other. With the red puppy that died, he was the only red male in the litter. When I go out to see them in 2 weeks, I will definitely be asking!

They were born last Thursday and this pic was taken this weekend. I, too, love Kaiser's thick coat (I saw him once when he had been recently brushed and he was gorgeous!). If I had been able to pick the parents for this puppy (eliminating the red dogs), Kaiser and Dixie would have been my pick, and the red puppy who died was from one of the sires who is just average looking, so perhaps it is better this way, anyway.

Yes, isn't Kaiser beautiful (even though he is not brushed)? I am actually getting even MORE excited as I think about my little guy looking like his daddy. Of course, Khan had a huge, thick coat like daddy (the same sire as my new little guy) and it was really difficult brushing his mane out... It was next to impossible to get down to the skin because it was SO thick! He looked beautiful when he was freshly brushed, though.
