Nik's personal disclaimer
I enjoy honesty and no BS!!! I admire people like you in this group. I'm the type of person who wants to be told if they are doing something wrong. This is the rest of my life we are talking about here!!! I don't like when people sugarcoat things or if they read a post and know someone is eating/doing something they shouldn't be, they just sit back and keep their thoughts to themselves. No - not for me!!
I appreciate the knowledge and wisdom that the veterans have to share with us all. The only thing that I have found with some of the information that has been shared is that it has been with somewhat of a snotty nature. What I mean by this is sometimes the veteran that is giving an answer is sharing it with a kind of "you have to agree with what I am saying or you must be wrong/stupid/etc." type of attitude. Don't get me wrong I am not directing this at any one person; there are a few. I have used some of the information and been grateful for it; other stuff with a grain of salt. That is why, for the most part I skim thru the posts and don't frequent here very often. Keep in mind this is just my opinion and I hope everyone finds what they are looking for here. 'nuff said.
I really enjoy your posts and I agree with you that honesty is needed. This site has been a great resource for me in the pre-op stage (which I'm nearing the end of) and I think you're right that people now may be better informed. A big reason for that is because of the information so freely available on sites like this one and blogs. In fact, not to be a kiss-ass, but your blog and eggface's blog are probably the single biggest factor in me actually being enthusiastic about the huge changes that come with surgery. I had assumed life, at least the culinary part of it, would be protein shakes and plain chicken but your blogs and this site showed me differently.
So please stay honest even when it isn't what someone wants to hear. The honesty and tough love is needed. If I ever post something ridiculous like 'can I eat a chipolte burrito bowl at 6 days post-op' I sure as hell hope someone tells me NO and to pull my head out of my own ass before I hurt myself.
