I am still pre-op but my hospital is also a three-hour drive.  I am going straight home, I think.  I have had two major surgeries where I rolled around WalMart shopping on the way home though.  This particular surgery sounds extremely tiring, plus you will probably just be on clear liquids.

Thanks for all the feed back. I have been telling my husband I didn't think I would be feeling up to anything strenuous. I told him I was worried about spending a bunch of money on tickets and not feel up to it and upset the kids.
I think we will stick with things like maybe the beach or things I can control how much time i spend out and about.

I had a rare complication during surgery.  I had a bleed in my belly, Dr. Dan said that if it was an open surgery vs. the RNY (which is what I had) he would have seen it and cauterized it.  I had a couple of extra day in the hospital, and one damn long and painful recovery.  All the blood pooled in my open spaces in my gut.  You should have seen my abdomen, black and blue, and the bruise ran to the rt side and lower back and continued all they way up the half side of my back, from laying flat.  It was just where the old blood settled.  The drain removal was horrible, so painful, I was screaming in the office.  LOL, I will never forget my surgeon's face when he pulled that drain.  He had never had this happen before, and looked scared.

But alas like childbirth the pain and trauma is easily forgotten.  I would do it all over again, and again.  I love my new self, my body, my spirit.  I am 5ft 5in at went from 272lbs to 139 lbs.  Went from a size 24 to a size 2 to 4 pants size and a small everything else.  Was it painful?  Was it a pain in the A$$?  Of course it was.  Would I do it again?  HELL YEZZZZZZ!!!

Oh and don't under estimate the gas pain, and SHARTING your self.  Never trust a Fart for a while after this surgery.
