2013-what is your commitment?

The new year is right around the corner.  Are you at goal weight and lost for something to light the fire in you?  Often we are so caught up in the weekly losses, shrinking bodies and our new way of life it consumes us.  Then, you hit goal weight.  NOW WHAT??? AAAGGGGHHHH!  You may feel lost for a while.

You don't have to! There are MANY things you can set your sights on........what will you do in 2013?

Some of you are hoping to have surgery in 2013.  What is your commitment?

Some of you are continuing on your journey-how about you?

We have to continue to challenge ourselves.....or we'll wither away........WHAT DOES 2013 HOLD FOR YOU????

For me:

I will continue to try new and exciting healthy recipes.  I love to cook.

I am also joining a gym with my daughter to a) be her workout buddy and b) to give me variety in my workouts (being in the basement by myself all the time is kind of boring.

More time to charitable endeavors.

Oh, and a completely superficial one.........I'M BUYING A PAIR OF SKINNY JEANS!

Great topic! I am almost 3 months into my WLS journey. I am going to continue with I am doing with some additions:

I want to really get into working out- just moving more.

I want to continue my healthy eating - even after my goal weight is reached- this is a life long plan and I am looking forward to a longer active life.

I want to make more time for my family- do more things - active things, spontaneous stuff....just go go go :)

I am putting me first more often. That means more time working out and pursuing hobbies than cooking and cleaning for fully capable people who CAN contribute and WILL, else we will have a house that looks Miss Haversham's in Great Expectations.

Getting my financial house in order.

Finding a job that I want, not just that I take because I need one (my company is closing).

I fight badgers with spoons.

My goal for the first 3 months is to do something every day (even if only 15-30 minutes on my recumbent bike) to strengthen my leg muscles as prep for my knee replacement surgery.

My goal for the rest of the year -- in addition to making it to my 6th RNY anniversary at/below/close to my goal weight, of course -- is to do a better job of balancing the various aspects of my life (work, house/yard, dissertation, dogs) and still take time to de-stress and emotionally/physically/spiritually re-charge.  I have not done a very good job with the latter this year...

My commitment is eating healthy. Keep saying No when someone keeps offering me  cakes and candy

My goal is to start jogging. I really want to do this.

This is a good thread Kim.  I do need to set some time aside and really think about what I want 2013 to be for me.  I know several things I need to do, including making some time for me.  I'm still the person that has a hard time telling others No and putting too much pressure on myself work-wise and in my personal life.  I SHOULD find that 30 minutes a day to do something for me.  By the time I stop in the evenings right now I'm exhausted.....I know this isn't good for my health.

I'll hit goal in 24 pounds! Then I'll start working on having my skin removal surgeries!

Once I heal from the surgeries and enter maintenance, I want to try Pole Fitness classes AND go on a shopping spree at Victoria's Secret!!!! Once I hit goal I'll have lost 200 pounds and my plastic surgeon tells me I have around 25-30 pounds of excess skin to be removed. That'll put me in a healthy weight range for the first time in my life!

I'm also studying to become a personal fitness trainer so I can help other bariactric patients reach their fitness and weight loss goals as well.

I want to complete a 10K by June and a half marathon by Christmas.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR 2013!!!

Thank you for starting this topic Kim!

My goal for 2013 is going to sound very odd on a WLS forum, but it is mine.

I will continue to try to gain weight to get back to at least 115 pounds by adding healthy calories. It has been very difficult in this past year with RH and that had caused me to lose to a low of 99.5 in August of this year. That is the singular and most important thing that I can do for myself. Never in this lifetime did I think that I would be struggling to gain. It freaks me out sometimes
