Raw Vegetables

I had surgery April 18 and I still have issues with eating raw vegetables.  Cooked veggies are fine it is just the raw ones.  Just wondering is anyone else has any issues with raw veggies.

I've had salads and am fine with those. I have not tried raw carrots (which I love), broccoli or cauliflower yet. I'm still afraid to try them. I'm so happy salads work for me. They are one of my favorite things to eat.

I can eat a little salad but raw broccoli, carrots, celery just hurts my pouch terribly. I have to stay away from them, the worse part is that I love raw veggies.

I'm good with a few broccoli and carrots as long as I chew them real good. Salad has not been much trouble, but I go for the proteins first.

I actually am becoming vegetarian because it's the meat that causes me pain. I force myself to eat turkey and chicken to get the protein in but it's uncomfortable. I add seafoods and fish (no tuna, it hurts too) to my salads or cooked veggies. I think we are all so different and our bodies react in diverse ways to this WLS. Maybe in time you will be able to tolerate veggies and I will be able to tolerate meat. It's one day at a time.

What kind of issues?  Gas or do they hurt your stomach?  Gas you can take BEANO and it helps a lot.  If they hurt your stomach, you may want to try the more watery ones and work your way up to the tougher ones.  Start with lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers.  You might try adding a few shredded pieces of the tougher ones over time.  Maybe though you might not be able to tolerate them at all.  You may have to go just with cooked or vitamens.  Good luck

I am 5 years out and still find that raw carrots and broccoli don't sit very well (they make my pouch hurt a bit), but only if I eat them on an empty pouch. If I have protein first, though, I am fine.

I can eat a cup of salad. But it has to be cut up pretty fine. Have one about 3 times a week at dinner.
