Got some hand-me-down clothes from my "skinny" mom
My mom's side of the family are tall, fair-skinned, blue-eyed, and thin (primarily English ancestry with some German). My dad's side of the family are short, muscular, deep brown eyed, and more ruddy skinned (primarily German ancestry and some Cherokee). I got the fair English skin and hair from my mom and everything else from my dad. Even after losing 190 pounds, and sitting at 145 (which I have not weighed since probably Junior High), I am NOT skinny. I have skinny PARTS, but I still have huge boobs (DDD cup), a thick waist, muscular thighs, and large bones in my legs. My knee caps are literally twice the width of my mom's.
I just became the recipient of 4 pairs of my mom's old pants, however (size 10s). She gained some weight (mostly in her belly) after she quit smoking 3 years ago. She now wears a size 14, and figures that even if she drops a few pounds, she will never fit into size 10 pants again. She was preparing boxes to go to Goodwill, so I started trying things on. None of her jeans fit because they are all "slim" cut and they don't even begin to go over my thighs, but there was a pair of dress corduroy pants, a pair of high quality (expensive) gabardine pants, and two pairs of chino type pants.
My mom was always "skinny". From puberty (age 10) onward, I was "chubby", "chunky", then just plain fat... And then, after certain life events... Obese... MO... SMO. I cannot even begin to put into words how surreal it is for me to be taking pants my mom cannot fit into anymore.
DEFINITELY something I am thankful for.

14 years out; 190 pounds lost, 165 pound loss maintained
You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Congrats on your weightloss and weight stability. Today I am exactly 1 year and 20 days out from surgery. Cant wait to get to goal , and "get my mind right" in regards to the permanency of my surgery. I've never had stable weight...always gained and gained, dieted and loss, and then gained more. You are stable!
