Not enough protein

I am 2 weeks and 2 days post op RNY. I am so far unable to get in enough protein each day. I have ZERO appetite and the thought of eating makes me nauseated. I can't even get a protein shake down. Surely this will get better. Ok, so to the point..... I'm looking for a good protein shake recipe that maybe tastes like a mocha or caramel frappe. I have been craving that. And also, did anyone have protein bars this early out? I just have no desire for real food at this point. Tha is for any help!

The big thing that helped me was a good blender. I was able to add ice and a little extra water so it wouldn't be so thick. I used Bariatric Advantage,my Dr recommended them, a little pricey. Oh and I found the Unjury chicken soup online...its really good! Tasted as good as a steak after 3 weeks of protein powder. If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

Hang in there it does get better!!

Ps..I had protein bars about 4 wks out..my Nut was ok with it as long as my stomach tolerated it. I just chewed the heck out of it.

I am a little over 2 months post-op and I still struggle to get all of my protein in!  One of my favorite things though has to be my Magic Bullet !  It blends the biggest ice cubes into this wonderful, frothy shake, I add frozen fruit and skim milk so that is good for about 30 grams of protein.....Good Luck and it does get better...

Syntrax has some very very yummy protein powder out there.  I've spent alot of money and energy on finding one that I didn't have to chug holding my nose.  I buy from mybariatricpantry.com they offer a sampler package.  As a treat, this maybe for when you are a little farther out, they have protein hot cocoa which is to die for!

Syntrax Nectar Cappuccino flavor with a shot of Torani Sugar Free Syrup. Then I used a Hamilton Beach single serving blender (All of my links will be from Amazon, I shop there a lot because I have Amazon Prime and that gives me free 2 day shipping, obviously you can shop anywhere) LINK to the blender. If I used water for my drink I would first put 4 ice cubes in the blender and then add water until it reached the 8 oz line. Hit the blend button for a second then let the ice cubes sink to the bottom and hit it again. Repeat this until the ice is not chunks any more (this prevents a foamy drink). You can tell from the sound when they are gone. If you use milk, then do the same with frozen milk cubes. Personally I would use milk for this one.

Then, take the freezer mug LINK (I only picked this one because it is cheap) and pour it in. If this doesn't keep it cold, nothing will.

I hope this helps......Oh, by the way, everything in blue is a link to the product.

One of my favorite protein powders is the Nectar Cappuccino Latte.  I make it with unsweetened almond milk.  It probably would be really good with a shot of the Torani Caramel flavored sugar-free syrup.  (I'm planning to get some myself, because I love caramel!)  My surgery was the same day as yours, and I'm having a lot of trouble getting all of my protein down too - the Nectar fruity ones all made me gag, the chicken soup flavor made me gag, and it seems like chocolate and cappuccino are the only ones I don't mind.  It doesn't seem like there's enough time in the day to get down the three shakes and three tiny meals and 48+ oz of water I'm supposed to have!!  I emailed my dietician about it and she just said to do my best to get what I could in for now.  Good luck finding something that you like!
