My puppy was killed

I got an email from the Chow breeder. Very sadly, my little guy somehow managed to get out of his enclosure and into an adjacent one, and the expectant female in that pen killed him.

There is a red female currently in the "maternity ward" and if she does not have any red males the breeder indicated that they would give me a puppy that they held back for themselves for breeding from a September litter... so at least I will not have to wait several more months for a puppy (which I appreciate)... but I am not very happy that they held one back for themselves instead of giving him to me to begin with... and now if the new litter has no reds, I will be getting a puppy that is already older and will ahve missed the period when they are the cutest.

Hopefully, the new litter will arrive soon and have a red male. If she delivers this week, I would still be able to get the puppy before the end of the year (and perhaps even the Saturday before Christmas).

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

Oh, Lora! I'm so sorry!

Not to mention you already sort of bonded with this puppy. Hugs. I hope you get your puppy soon.

This is the breeder's mistake and your dog died.  You could sue them.  Just tell them you want the Sept. puppy now because you do not want to have time lost with a dog.  Why are you being so complacent and letting them dictate the terms after they caused your dog's death?

I'm so sorry to hear about this loss.  That's so sad.  However, I agree that you should not have to take an older puppy and miss out on all the fun of the early days.

Maybe you could look into another breeder?
