Hey Everyone,

Question - anyone else dizzy spells? I'm 5 months out and the last couple day's I've been having a dizzy spells, It mostly happens when I go to stand up but then like right now It had happened I walked back to my desk and I'm still feeling dizzy. :(

I should mention I'm on my period - but I'm taking my Iron and all my other vitamins, I've already had over 75 grams of protein this morning. Maybe I'm dehydrated?

Just curious if anyone else has had this problem?

Adrianne

It could be dehydration, or you may need some salt in yout diet.......Drink a powerade zero or gatorade and see if it helps.......That always seems to work for me....

It's likely either low bp issues or dehdration.  If you're drinking plenty of water, monitor your low bp levels for a few days.  I went through this around 4-5 mo. post op.  My low bp issues could not be resolved without a pacmaker being implanted in my chest.  DAVE

Yeah generally I have low blood pressure even when I was larger so that would make sense. I'm drinking some water now and will pick up a Gatorade! Thanks!!

I'm five months out also and funny I went to the dr last week with that same complaint! I would get real dizzy and light headed whenever I got up. She lowered my blood pressure meds and that fixed it for the most part. Now I'm noticing I'm getting light headed/dizzy during my workouts...so I think my meds need to be lessened more..

Well generally I have low/average blood pressure. I've never been on Meds for it cause it hasn't been needed. The only time my blood pressure goes up is when I'm in pain and even that is usually in a normal range. I'm thinking blood sugar and needing more fluids :/

I had that two weeks post op. my pcp took me off of my high bp meds. That solved the problem.

Yes, I had dizzy spells around 3-6 months out and especially at standing up. It was explained to me that the body is having temporary difficulty pumping the blood up to the head.  Not dangerous, just a little bit of adjustment. Go slowly it will pass as your body adjusts.  I haven't had it for several months now. Temporary fix and general advice.. drink more water it can help get your blood volume up and keep you well hydrated.

I was getting really dizzy when my potassium was low. I had potassium in the hospital twice because I passed out from it being so low. Now my potassium is at a normal level and I am no longer getting dizzy. Powerade Zero can help with both dehydration and low potassium.
