Who uses livestrong or sparkpeople etc.?
I'm just wondering who uses these programs to track your daily intake? I have logged on to a few of these sites to see where I should be calorie wise to lose about 10 lbs. They all say I need 1,500 calories a day to lose. That just seems really high to me. I usually get between 900 to 1,200 calories a day with a protein forward diet and I also work out at least 4 times a week for an hour. My weight just isn't budging. So my question would be is who uses these site and do you eat the amount of calories suggested? I'm 4 years out from RNY.
If you know what your caloric intake is to maintain then it is much easier to know what you need to know to lose. To lose 1 pound you have to eat 3500 less calories than you burn. I don't mean just the extra calories that you burn during exercise, but also the ones that you burn just by being alive. Theoretically, if you cut 500 calories a day from the calories that you maintain at, then you should lose 1 pound a week.
Many of is have screwed up metabolisms, so it might not always work that way. Also, if you are only eating 900-1200 calories a day then maybe you should only cut 200 calories a day and see how that works for a month and then reevaluate.
