Tonight I had a pissy pouch and didn't have enough protein for the day...

...so what did I do?

I made myself a hot drink and made myself drink it.

It did not taste particularly good (not because it wasn't good but because there is something inherently icky about consuming something when you just don't want to)

there was no food/drink joy

It took a while

BUT, I point this out to say that...

1. It happens to us all but

2. You still gotta get your protein.

Us vets all the time tell you guys to treat protein like medicine and just do it. Well I just wanted to point out a time when I followed that same advice. Get that protein!

I did protein good it was my liquids I slacked on so I am pushing tea and powerade because I am taking a water pill and I need the potassium. My pouch is gurgling and *****ing at me right now, lol.

Thank you!   It's good to know there will be days like this....and it means a lot knowing someone who is much farther out has these types of days.

Yep some days we just have to force ourselves to get there. Not fun but necessary.

I as in a similar situation tonight.  Just haven't been feeling the eating.  I had a green protein smoothie tonight so I could get in my protein.  weekends are more annoying for this then during the week.

I've often wanted to type "suck it up, buttercup" when people are whining about how they're not managing to get their water and protein in ...

It is NOT a negotiable for any of us - of course we all have good days and bad days but getting our protein, water and vitamins is not something we can wimp out of because it's hard ...

I've been sick and it's easier to eat/drink nothing at all than it is to try to worry about liquids and protein. I've never heard of treating it like medicine. Thank you for this amazing advice! I really needed to hear it tonight! Maybe a protein hot tea is in order!

Yep, that kind of day for me too.  I had a greek yogurt this morning with added protein (about 24g altogether), then a protein bar (another 17g), worked out and burned up to 300 calories.  Tried to eat chicken wings, minus the skin.  2nd one into, no go.  Ate the celery instead. Came back and ate some pistachios (about 8g), then tonight I just ate french onion soup, another 7g.  Still pretty good, but the whole focusing on protein content, is what keeps me trying.

Days where I can feel that real food isn't working, my protein bars and nuts and yogurts save me everytime.

Here's to hoping tomorrow is a better "normal" day.

I still think I did pretty good.

It must have been "National Pissy Pouch Day"!!! I seldom have one of those but did yesterday. I ended up having to have another protein drink before bed to get my daily protein. Like Kim said  suck it up buttercup. That certainly applied to how I felt about having to drink that last night. devil I did it though......

Yep, been there.  When I've dealt with GI upset, either from the flu or pissy pouch syndrome, I go back to protein drinks to make sure I'm getting enough fluid and nutrition to stay hydrated and not starve.
