I'm 5 days post op & on a full liquid diet. I'm staying at my moms while I'm recovering & left "Barix Bible" at hone by accident. Just curious if strained cream soups with less than 2grams sugar & 2grams fat are okay? Chicken/beef broth are making me nauseous & Cream of potato soup strained is sounding great right now!

Thanks in advance!

I know that some people have no or little restrictions on their diet post op,  but you should ask your dietitian about that.  I can't imagine straining cream soup.  Try flavoring broth with herbs and diluting them a little.  It is such a short time for the liquid diet that  it would be preferable if you an stick with it as your pouch heals.

You will be fine as long as you use the low fat cream soups.  These were on my 1st week post-op diet and I had no problems.

I came home on full liquids and had cream soup. It was probably the best thing I had initially. Congrats on being post op. :)

One of the posters on this board "Diminishing Dawn" had her surgery at the same place that you did. Contact her for the info from your Barix Bible. She is very willing to help!

I linked her profile page to her name as above.....

Thanks everyone for the advice! I am actually friends with Diminishing Dawn on both this forum & Barix. I didn't even think to ask her. Thanks again!

During my liquid diet I ate the reduced fat cream of chicken made with skim milk and strained everyday. It was delish and filling. It was allowed on my plan.

Cream of potato was a revelation for me after surgery! Yummy... the potato pieces are small and mushy so i didnt strain it. Just made sure to make em liquidy before swallowing.

I ate the cream of chicken and other creamed soups - yes I did strain them or stick them into the blender.  Even chicken soup, just the broth feels good on old pouchie.  I do remember that phase well and also really enjoyed refried beans, with a little shredded cheddar on top.  Good protein.  Sometimes though, the smells would turn me off.

I'm looking in the barix bible now..........it just says strained cream soups. Doesn't say how much fat or sugar that's only stated on the protein shakes. I buy everything fat and sugar free now anyway just to b safe lol.......everything makes me so nervous
