Drinking with a straw?

I flirted with straws when the stench of the protein shake was more than I could handle.  And to my surprise, I didn't burst into the flames of bariatric hell.  I drink with a straw all the time now. 

I actually do better WITH a straw.  I can slowly sip more easily.  Without one, I tend to guzzle and gulp and take in lots of air. It's easier for the docs and nuts to tell everyone not to use a straw than to tell people that if it bothers them not to use one. lf it doesn't give you gas, go for it!
