Starting weight: 368. ( 3/2012)

preop diet weight : 342 ( 10/16/12)

last day I weighed before surgery : 321 (10/26/12)

my one week post op yesterday : 320??????????

how is that possible? No weight loss since surgery??  Am I already a failure? My belly is swollen, but I was highly disappointed when I weighed yesterday.

Sigh sigh sigh.....

and I sure wish this pain in my left incision would subside. I'm getting discouraged by all of this pain :(

someone please help me understand.

During surgery they pump you full of fluids. I came home from the hospital weighing somewhere between 10-12 pounds more than I went in. It takes a while to get rid of that, so be patient!  It WILL happen, I promise......

Don't worry..it comes off...must get your fluids in.  I had surgery on 10/26, I was 233 ....today I am 220.  It's coming off.

Hang in there.

We are all skeptical that this wont work for us either.  But I promise, just do what you are supposed to do and you WILL lose the weight.  Right now, your body is in major shock.  It is healing.  Get your fluids and walk, walk, walk.

This is the beginning of your new lifestyle.  Concentrate on really changing your life in this next year.  Learn to eat protein rich whole food meals and become a regular exerciser.  I promise, when you look back at this in your tiny jeans, you'll smile!

Relax!!    Like everyone has said it's from all the fluids they fill us up with in the hospital.  I almost peed myself when I got on the scale when I got home from the hospital!!    It took me a week to get rid of the extra fluids!  Some people have said here that it has even taken them longer... Don't feel like a failure!  Before you know it the numbers on the scale will start to move and you will be in awe on how fast it will move!!  Keep us posted cuz I can't wait to hear how your doing in another week!! mail

Good luck!!  It will be all worth it just wait and see!!  That's a promise!!

It will come off! That day of surgery I was 343. 3 days post op I was 355!! Finally at 9 days post op I was 338. It takes a bit for the fluids to work their way out.  The weight will come off, be patient! :)

I'm only 2 weeks out since surgery and had forgotten that I was in the same boat your in now. I gained about 8lbs after surgery and was a little depressed. I figured it was because I was swollen and my body was in shock. Sure enough, I lost those 8lbs and 13 more to boot.
