i should be able to eat regular food but i am stuck on liquids because my pouch is a brat and very senstive and will not allow me to eat. I feel like i am straving, i know it is probably head hungry but it never goes away, i go for walks and read, get on the computer color in color books, i even started sewing again. i am always drinking something but nothing seems to take away the hungry. I cry cooking for my family and i cry while they are eating.  I dont know what to do. I cant live like this. I am not regretting my decision because i am getting healthy but what do i do about this hungry. I even tried to eat a really under cooked wheat grilled cheese bit that was a really bad choice, i made chili and drained the juice off and left the meat, veggies in the pot and that hurt, even pudding and jello hurts right now. i have many test and they see nothing wrong with my pouch. what do i do.

I had trouble eating at first. Sugar free popsicles really helped! It was nice to be able to chew some food! I also did things like chicken broth or beef broth with unflavored protein powder. I blended Wendy's chili and froze it in ice cube trays (because each hole will hold a 1 oz. serving). I was able to eat some baby foods, but I couldn't do cottage cheese or mashed potatoes till I was farther out. Hope this helps. Hang in there. It's totally worth it! When you can eat and start freaking out cause you're afraid you're eating too much, you'll really miss the days when you couldn't eat. (((Hugs)))

Are you on a PPI (an anti acid medication like prilosec or protonix)? Has your doc considered an ulcer? It sounds like your pouch may be irritated and/or not healed completely and that the acid that is produced around an unhealed area (ulcer) causes you to feel hungry when empty and miserable when food goes in. I experienced something similar. When I was prescribed protonix and liquid Carafate (which coats the pouch with a chalky layer) I got immediate relief. It took a few months to go away completely, but the carafate and anti acid medication made it tolerable while it was healing. I actually continued to use them when a scope showed the ulcer had healed because the pouch was still irritated. So, even if they don't find an ulcer, it may be a treatment you could try for a while. I'd recommend you ask your doc if he/she is willing to try it for you.

Oh, I would also really restrict carbs for a while to see if the head hunger diminishes.

i only tried the sandwich once just to see if i could. i am trying everything. the carafate is a pill that you melt in water. i cant get the melted pill to stay down it comes up before i am able to eat anything.

Definitely keep communicating with your doc. The liquid carafate is sooo much more effective than the pill. I'd ask the doc for the liquid version.

Are you eating or drink protein?  Protein helps with hunger.

Have you tried canned chicken or tuna, they tend to be more watery and easier to swallow. I would try only a bite and wait ten mins to see how it sits, and liquify the meat in your mouth.
