Nik's first food lesson from Hurricane Sandy

If you widen the physical proximity between you and tempting food choice, the desire diminishes commensurate to the amount of distance.

Example? I put my fudgesicles down in the basement deep freezer so I could freeze gallon jugs of water in the fridge freezer. I want a fudgesicle (or four - craving chocolate!) but it's just not worth the trip downstairs!

I will continue to report my hurricane food learnings, so long as I have electricity.

That is all.

Yep. Thin Mints call to me loudly from MY freezer, but I cannot hear them in my mom's freezer two streets over, LOL.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

Stay safe Nik,

I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!

LOL! I love this!!!! I keep my nsa fudgesicles in the basement freezer also! Therefore, I have to REALLY want one to go down there and since I never go to the basement at night, that means I have to plan during the day to bring 1 or 2 up if I'm going to want one later!

We have a second fridge/freezer in the basement. Prior to surgery when I was on my preop I had hubby put anything to drink other than water in that fridge. It's still going there today. I don't want to look at diet pepsi because I know my head will want what it sees. The kids also use that fridge for any goodies I don't want to be tortured with like ice cream etc. It works for us cuz lord knows I'm too lazy to go down those crickety steps to get it.

Well I live with 3 other people one with a lap band but they constantly bring snacks in. I find myself with a handful of cashews every other hour. I need to make them take it to their own rooms its just helping with my depression. be safe all you NY and NJ peoples.

Works for me too! But then again my huby sometimes comes home to no dinner because I didn't want to go down to the freezer, lol! He then says I don't understand how you can for a 5 mile walk but NOT go to the basement and get a package of chicken! He just doesn't understand, lol!
So far all is well here in South Jersey - rainy and just a little wind at the moment. Power was out for about 1/2 hour already though.
