The "there's no stupid questions" thread

Where (and why) did the phrase "I love me some .....whatever...." come from?
I think I have missed a social mores movement that added poor grammar into the most intellectual conversations. My fourth grade English teacher would wash my mouth out with soap if I ever said that, even if she is probably long gone from this earth.
Ok so I don't want to unequivocally declare this a result of Ebonics but...
I think it's Toni Braxton's fault. She put out a song in the 90's called "I love me some him." It's a common expression in black culture. "I love me some pancakes!"
Then, as American tradition goes, we tend to meld black culture with Southern culture (one day I will write a diatribe about that. Now that they remade Steel Magnolias using an all-black cast we have proof that black culture and Southern culture are not the same thing!!!) so some might say it is a Southern thing.
It's a colloquialism. Not grammatically incorrect in Ebonic dialect. But yes, as a writer, seeing it in writing (instead of spoken word) is sort of grating.
Was that ten more pieces of information than you wanted to know or what???

My surgeon also did not require anything specific pre-op. I just continued to eat pretty normally and enjoyed some foods that I knew it would be a while before I would eat again, but I started paying attention to how big a portion I was eating and thinking about what the nutritional content was of what I was eating. I didn't go crazy with eating all my favorites, just went to a pizza place I had not been to in a while, splurged on dessert with dinner a couple of times, had a special birthday dinner thee week before surgery, etc. I think paying attention to how much I was eating really helped me with doing it post-op.
Some people want to maximize their weight loss before surgery (and that's good for those who want to do so), but my focus was on preparing myself psychologically... I figured the surgery would take care of the physical weight loss.

Just what I needed because boy howdy do I have a stupid question ...
What does it feel like when something is stuck.? I had some pot roast (from the crock pot) with potato & carrots. I got a tiny bite of each down before I felt all full & like it was laying heavy so I stopped eating. That was an hr & a half ago. My intestines are rumbling & I have puked 3 times since. I'll never eat pot roast again ... promise!
Well for ME a few things happen when something gets stuck and it all happens about the same time.
- I immediately lose my appetite
- I get a tight feeling in my gut like someone has literally gotten their clutches around my stomach
- All smells are instantly horrible
- This slimy sludge starts developing in my throat, my mouth starts producing like five times the saliva it once did and this foamy substance starts to build up in my mouth
Unfortunately what took two seconds to eat generally takes 40 minutes to come back up. Sigh...it's a process.
