Home now 3days out

 All went very smoothly apparently, the new surgeon was happy with how well it turned out, had my swallow on Saturday was having some pain management issues Saturday night and Sunday but once I got off the drip and onto pills we got it under controll. Came home today- thank god!! I had the worst room mate ever she talked non stop snored like a freight train and had both her laptop and tv on at the same time, she had no comprehension of what she'd had done- didn't need to read the paperwork cause she had a band 7 years ago, she said she had no complications with it then said she vomited heaps and lost no weight.
yesterday took the cake when I was in agony and she was going on and on about steak and chips and chocolate- flat out admitted she hadn't read the post op diet she just bought some soups and that'll do then proceeded to tell me we don't need to take vitamins, given the mount of research I did leading up to this and the fact that I had my paperwork there with me to back up my assertion we do need vitamins I was less than impressed when she called me a "sucker" the surgeon doesn't even sell the vitamins he recommends- I ended up in tears partly pain induced mainly stress induced if never met someone so self riotous and deluded in all my life. She tried to convince the lady that brought our trays of clear liquids to get her some toast!!! Wtf the kitchen lady laughed at her.

sorry I hadn't meant to have a big rant, I guess some of you will understaNd my frustration..... So glad to be home!!

Sounds like one of those people who think the surgery will do all the work. She'll find out soon that its just a tool and she will have a long hard road if she wants to be successful. So sorry you had to experience that when you were in pain and needed a supportive friend. I cant believ she actually called you a sucker, I would have stood on her o2 tube for about 2 minutes, lol.

 Lol Annie I would have but she kept taking it out even though the nurses told her to put it back in her nose!!!

Congrats on getting home and doing well so far!!   You will do much better now that you are at home!

Sorry to hear you had the roommate from hell!  She is clearly a "know-it-all".   Just get through the next few days with your pain and water...  If nothing else, you will have wonderful stories to laugh about!

OMG that sounds horrible! This is something I really seriously dreading but I found out my hospital has all private rooms - thank god! I can't believe you were able to control yourself and not let her have it!

 Thanks twinkles- I'm surprised I didn't let her have it but I could feel myself getting upset with nowhere to go and that would have been even worse in the end.

i was expecting a private room sweepings as I'm a private patient but the floor was very busy!

Glad this experience went better than your last!! Sorry to hear about the roommate.. Kind of scary how people wrap their brains around things eh? It's good to hear that you are so well prepared. Do what you know you need to do and all the best to you

im so all over this, first thing I did was feel out incisions, drains and tubes and hassled everyone in recovery to tell me it all went to plan. Of course they're not allowed to but one nurse back in the room told me everything on my chart had been done- I would have gone insane waiting on the surgeon otherwise!!

im pretty positive this is all going to go great!

i mhad a diffrent major surgery 6 years ago and had the room to my self , then they put someone in my room and his wife stayed in the room over night and keep all the room lights on and the tv blasting and was talking all night , I finaly feel asleep  and she shut my fan off in the morning I woke up soaking wet and she said it made to much noise , would have ask to change rooms but they left that morning, incosiderite sobs
