i ahve been getting about 500-600 calories a day and not sure if i need to get more. I get 60-80 oz of fluid and 80-110 g of protein a day. i walk about 2 1/2 hours a day and was wondering if i need my calories or less.

Don't worry about calories right now.  Just get your protein.  You'll be able to eat larger amounts over time and your calories will increase (as they should).

I'm so impressed with how much you're walking!

  • These are the rules I followed/follow:
  •

  • *Eat simple (dairy, fruit) and complex (beans, vegetables, whole grains) Carbohydrates (I do not count daily grams)
  • *No more than 15 grams of Sugar per meal (more grams if able to tolerate-I allow myself up to 30 grams Sugar per meal from Simple and Complex Carbohydrate sources and also from Dairy products that are no fat/low fat because I do not seem to dump on Sugar)
  • *Eat 3 main meals (B, L, D) no further than 5-6 hours apart
  • *Eat 1 protein snack at 1200 calories a day at least 2-3 hours from breakfast
  • *Eat 2-3 protein snacks at Maintenance calories a day at least 2-3 hours from B, L, D

  • *9-12 Months After Surgery: I ate 1000 calories a day
  • *12-24 Months After Surgery: eat 1200 calories a day (I ate 1200 calories a day until 15 months when I reached my goal weight)
  • *24 Months after surgery (or when goal weight is reached before 24 months): Maintenance calories (BMR/RMR & Activity Level) (Malabsorption of calories lasts approximately 18-24 months) (I eat 1800-2000 calories a day to maintain my weight loss of 200 pounds at a weight of 131 pounds. My height is 5'4")
  • I do not participate in a formal exercise program due to Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis. I do move around a lot more and do a lot more walking.

I am also a little past three weeks out.  I was averaging about 900 calories a day, 60-80g of protein.  I have been suffering from really low energy this week since I switched from slider foods to soft textured proteins.  It has been harder to maintain my calories and I'm only getting between 500-600 now.  I can really feel the difference in my energy level and my weight loss stopped.  I am going to try to get in a mixture of protein and slider foods and get my calories back up a bit so that I have more energy.

I dont get any where near that amount but i dont have loss of energy just the oppisite, i have more enegry then i know what to do with. I get most of my calories from protein powder, and protein shakes. i cant tolerate anything except slider foods yet, everything i try to eat that has any density to it my tummy hurts for hours off just a few bites. wheni go to the dr on tuesday i am going to ask about it.

I don't count calories, and was told not to at this point, but since I use myfitnesspal, com to track protein, it tracks calories too.  I am averaging around 500ish per day.  Some more some less.  I don't think I have ever made it above 650.  I am 6 weeks out.
