So I am 16 months post op gastric bypass and I hit my goal at about 11 months out. My higher weight was 311 and I am now fluctuation between 146lbs-151lbs. I have lost 165lbs and I am so happy about that but I have tried everything to lose another 10 or 20 lbs! I have been walking and jogging 3 times a week for the past months and NOTHING. What should I do? I feel like my body is at it's limit. I am just not happy. I assume I have a good 10 lbs of skin to be removed so I guess I weigh more around 136-142lbs but I don't know. I just feel like Would be happier with another 10lbs. What should I do? Liquid diet? More fluids? Less fluids? (I drink 100 oz a day)

Don't get me wrong. I am SO proud of myself for losing 165lbs! That's A LOT OF WEIGHT! I just want to push my body a little farther. Or do I have to learn to just be happy how I am?

PLEASE HELP!

Here is my newest before and after pic. Enjoy!

Before and after. I was 311 lbs on the left and 146lbs on the right.

You are one of the greatest success stories ever, seeing your posts and pictures make me so excited about my RNY!  I don't have much advice for you though....my weight loss has nearly halted at where I am now....the scale is moving at a snail's pace now, and even after upping my protein and water intake, and also my exercise...so I too need help!

I did not reach my goal weight until 2.5 years out.  I now bounce all around it only because I need to  be more compliant.  You may be in a long resting phase.  Don't give up.  I do not know how your body will respond, but as you continue to exercise you will continue with that benefit.

No advice, as I'm just over 3 weeks post op.  Just a comment...you look WONDERFUL!  I can only hope that I do as well as you've done.

My friend is in the same boat she lost 100 lbs doing WW she is a runner and she says she wants to lose 10 more lbs and she will go to a PS for a consult on a TT. Well her PCP told her that 10 lbs and more is in her arms, legs, and tummy. I don't know if you have excess skin like hers but I say go to a consult I have heard they can give you a estimate of how much excess skin they will take off. That will probably be your 10 lbs. I also wanted to add I know it is a personal issue between you and your image but I think you look amazing. You have come so far and to fight with those last 10 lbs you personally want to lose I say go to a PS and get a better idea of what you think you might need to lose. Again I think you look fab! Good Luck!

You are beautiful!

As far as losing another 10 lbs, I think it is completely attainable. We tend to think (perhaps subconsciously) that if we do not lose all our desired weight within one year or eighteen months that we will not lose that weight.

As Dasie said, she didn't finish losing until 2.5 years. There are many people here who have said the same thing, Lady Lithia and Lora in particular come to mind.

So keep on. I am 13 months out and 25 pounds from goal. It's coming off much slower now that I would like, but It is coming off.

Im also at 16 months out and have lost way less...but will say that the weight comes off very slowly now. One of my aunts is a little over 4 years out and just got to goal so it keeps coming off.

I think this is why some NUTS and surgeons do not want us to choose "goal" weights... the "stats" say 60-80% of your excess weight....

i am 5 feet 0 inches and a Normal BMI would be like 115ish... Their "goal" weight for me is like 160.  I am starting at 250....

All of this to say that you need to look at yourself as a SUCCESS!  Despite the last 10 lbs.  How do you feel, how do you feel you look, are you comfortable?  Healthy?

If you want to loose those 10 lbs it will be a lot of hard work and will take a LOT longer to loose... so keep on keeping on and it will go eventually..just don't let it rule your thoughts...You ahve done so well!

Let go of a "number".  Really, are you healthy?  That is the goal.

Your body may well be at goal.  It may not.  And yes, you can "diet" yourself to a magic number....and diet for life to stay there.  Is it worth it?  Only you can answer that question.

You may just be missing the euphoric losing phase now that you are in maintenance and you don't want that to end.  Set other goals for yourself now-new fitness goals.

As for skin, you likely do have 10+ lbs of excess skin, so you need to take that into consideration.

Try not to live by a number on a scale-you are more than that.  Be gentle with your body, and follow your body's advice.  it KNOWS what it's best weight is.

And BTW, you are gorgeous!
