The words of strangers...
I love my friends. I love my family. I trust that when they tell me I am doing great that they absolutely 100% believe what they are saying.
But I also understand they may be a wee bit biased.
That's why the comments of strangers have become very pertinent to me. In keeping with that, a bunch of folks who don't know me well but see me regularly (in shops, the gym etc.) have made comments on my physique lately. Two people at the gym asked me what I was going to lose weight (I actually have lost some in the last few months). One gym staff member told me she'd been there since I first started and is amazed at what I've done (which, to me, means I'm still doing "it"!). Three people I see on the street passing by stopped and asked me if I'm trying to lose weight because I look great (and these folks have only seen me pass by in the last year or two...I am nearly five years out).
So...while I love my family and friends, I get REALLY encouraged by the comments of strangers. I think folks give that to me because I welcome them in my aura (if you believe in auras). I would like to believe I look happy, healthy and able to cope with my life (because that's how I feel inside).
Just a few thoughts on a Tuesday morning!

I know what you mean! Our families are great and all, but yeah, slightly biased! I do not have a welcoming aura at all (no really, it's true) but I was pleased when my neighbor stopped my husband and commented to him how great I'm looking. It really does help when you get that unbiased confirmation that you are doing something right!
I feel the same way. I mean, it's great to have my parents and my in laws say, you look great! It's really nice to have others say it too.
Yesterday at our meeting I was helping with the clean up and a friend came up and said, "You look so long and skinny!" I laughed and said thanks, cause no ones ever called me long, and she said, "that's a compliment you know, cause you look great!"
About Two minutes later someone else walked up and said, "you look so skinny now! I wanted to say you've done a great job. I'm very proud of you." Again I said thanks and gave her a hug.
It means a lot to me to hear these comments.

It really is true. When strangers, or people we don't know well, take the time and effort to engage us in conversation and then encourage us, then we know we're on the right track! Otherwise, why would they say it?!
I had a student at my school (I don't even teach her or know her name!) say something about it yesterday and it really made me feel good.
So enjoy the kudos, Nik! You definitely deserve them!!! Great job!!!
