What to eat when you have a loss of appetite
I'm 4 years out from RNY and did really well losing within the first 18 mos. I used to have a really good eating routine and somehow got derailed. Lately I don't have much of an appetite and don't know what to eat so I end up not eating until I absolutely have to and then it's stuff that isn't protein packed. Iv'e been craving carbs like crazy, my body just feels so off. Do any of you have any ideas of what to eat when I don't really have an appetite so that I don't end up eating junk. I need to break this cycle.
I don't really have much of an appitite I usually start to remember to eat when I get a headache, feel dizzy or when someone remindes me. I totally get where you're coming from and so basically if I am at home I have some low sodium lunch meat and i have a slice and that is pretty easy to eat.
Honestly I when I crave junk, if I eat something else like lunch meat, greek yogurt, cheese stick, a few almonds I'm full and just thinking about food makes me want to be sick. I really find that post RNY my cravings dont need to be satisfied just eating something healthy makes me full and not crave anything.

You don't have an appetite or you don't have an appetite for healthy stuff but do have an appitite for junk? Because I think those are two different situations.
On days when I don't have much appetite, I have a protein shake or two. If I'm not in the mood for healthy stuff but in the mood for junk, I just eat the healthy stuff anyway. I don't buy junk so I usually don't have any in the house, so I can't eat it if it's not there.

Unfortunately, the answer is hat you need to eat protein -- ANY protein -- even if you have no appetite. My "go to" proteins if I don't feel much like eating are Greek yogurt, cheese of some kind, turkey, or some Honeybaked ham (I almost always have some slices in the freezer because I buy a large one then put a few slices in individual packages and vacuum seal them and freeze most of them).
As Kelly said, having no appetite at all is very different from only having an "appetite" for junk, so how you address the issue depends on which issue you are experiencing. You said you got "derailed" as far as your eating, so I am assuming that you are craving crabs because you started eating too many of them again. (It happens to lots of us at one point or another, so no judgment about it is intended.) Going "cold turkey" is usually the only way to really break the carb cravings and get back on track.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Most the time I don't have an appetite at all but I wait so long to eat and then I end up shoving something unhealthy in my mouth to keep my sugar from dropping. Food just hasn't been appealing to me and I seem to get stressed out just thinking about having to eat. On Friday I took some salad and Tilapia to work for lunch and I ended up taking two bites and not wanting it so I ate nothing.
Thanks for all the suggestions, maybe I need to buy and try some new food items.
