NSV; unexpected new found joy....
Walking has never been something that I could enjoy. In fact when I went to the gym the treadmill was the last peice of equipment that I ever used. My ankles felt weak, I got out of breath easy and I just hated to walk. Last week we started back at the gym for the winter and I decided to try it for 10 minutes, well lo and behold, it wasn't a problem. I wasn't hanging on the the frame, I wasn't out of breath and my legs weren't hurting. It was actually a great feeling so on the 4th day I upped the speed and time to 15 minutes. My goal is to get up to a light jog in a week or so. The first day I used the treadmill my blood glucose dropped to 85 afterwards. That is very unusual for me but a good thing.
I hope all of you will start trying new ways to exercise and discover new benefits of your RNY. Please share anything that you have done that shows progress.

Congrats on your progress! Doesn't it feel GREAT?!?!1
I haven't been killing myself with exercise. Hurting myself running back in 2007 set me up for a big weight gain. That, and I don't love exercise. I like walking and so that's what I do. I'm using my eliptical, and now that it's cooling off here in Fla, I will get outside some. My real goal is to dust off my bike and get on the trail that's a mile from my house and that I've only seen from the highway
But one thing I've noticed is that every activity just seems... easier now.
Last night, we went to a show at a large sports venue. We parked quite aways away and walked a distance to get there. On our way home, after retracing our steps to the car, I thought "Wow, that was easy." 3 months ago, it would have been a slower process, and I'm sure I would have felt winded. But last night, I kept up with the 12 to 33 year olds and didn't think twice about it while it was happening.
What a WIN!
Before surgery I couldn't walk from my car to the entrance of my work without gettting out of breath; maybe 100 yards!! I now walk 5 to 8 miles a day 7 days a weeks!! I will never be able to run, I have plates and screws in my leg from an accident - but walking is just fine with me!!
I would like to get up to 10 miles a day by the end of November when I will be ready to add some indoor workouts too,
