Did I get the day right?

My day has been pretty ok. I got a present in the mail and these:

Photo: FOODIES: What you see in my hand is one of the four offerings from the first line of BF magnets. But it's so much more. You see, before surgery I was that girl that never finished anything. I didn't have the confidence. I didn't believe I deserved to have an accomplishment. Through my surgery and THE SUPPORT OF THIS COMMUNITY I believe in myself enough to offer of myself to you. I'm proud to present this magnet set to you and hope it helps you as you've SO helped me along this journey. You can find more info on the magnets at: http://bariatricfoodie.blogspot.com/p/shop-bf_9.html

It's one of the line of BF magnets I'm offering to help folks "chew the right thing!" when they go to the fridge. I think that's about as much as I'm allowed to say about that by the terms of OH's TOS. But I mention this not as a sales pitch but because guess what???

I FINISHED SOMETHING I STARTED!!!

This is a huge NSV for me. I was that girl that never finished what she started. I didnt' believe myself worthy of accomplishment. So to see something through...well...whether these things sell or not, I feel like a winner holding that little magnet in my hand!

Anyhoo...when I get home I am going to walk the dog (I am trying a new walking/feeding schedule because housetraining is a bit erratic right now), fixing dinner then hitting the gym because my lazy arse hasn't been there all week!!!

Dinner...maybe a turkey burger with cheese and caramelized onions. Not sure. I'm kinda not hungry.

Here's what else I had today:

1. Sausage, Quinoa and Roasted Veggie Soup (for breakfast! So avante gard!)
2. I went to lunch with a co-worker I am hoping will mentor me. We split a small order of fries (bless her, she's a health conscious foodie like me!) and I had the innards of two fish tacos. Skipped the tortillas.
3. Two squares of chocolate

So not a bad day all in all. What's on your plates, friends?

I made a quiche last night before I went to bed so I could have it to take to lunch & whatnot the rest of the week & woke up this morning to half of it gone. My husband came home from work last night & helped himself & my son apparently had some for breakfast. So tonight I'm having quiche before there is none left to have.

Forgive the dumb question as I am trying to figure out how I will continue to eat well after surgery...

Can we have soup after surgery?  Perhaps I misunderstood yesterday at my nutrition class....she said we can't have the liquid and food together...so basically we can never have soups is how I understood that...

can someone explain this?

You should always follow your surgeon's plan. So if your surgeon says no soup, no soup. But in my plan, I can eat soup. I just eat it...differently.

For starters I use very little broth in my soups. So it's more like what Rachel Ray would call a "stoop." When I go out to eat and have soup I eat the "guts" and leave the broth.

I am having surgery in 2 weeks, so maybe i just don't understand yet. I'm confused because of the waiting for liquids ..soup is part liquid.

Thanks.

No problem at all! These are good questions.

When I say I eat the "guts" of the soup I mean I only eat the solids. I leave the broth.

When I make soup at home, there is very little liquid. Most food has some liquid in it. That's not so much a problem. What's a problem is when you take in a significant amount of liquid on top of food. It pushes food through your pouch too fast which makes you hungrier faster and threatens to widen your stoma (the opening from your pouch to your intestines).

I hope that makes clearer.

It does make it clearer...it's good to know I can still have soup ...sort of..  :-)
