QUestion about coffee
I'm 3+ yrs post-op and drink about 96 oz of decaf coffee per day. Though decaf is not "caffeine free" (fed regs require 97.5% or greater decaffeination), I've not had any issues drinking that much (equivalent caffeine to 1/4 cup regular coffee). Caffeine acts as a appetite stimulant and diuretic, but drinking 3 or 4 cups of decaf is equivalent to drinking less than 1.5 oz of regular coffee.
Rule of thumb is to drink the equivalent volume of non-caffeine liquids that you drink of caffeinated liquids. So, drinking 4 cups (12 oz ea) of decaf coffee plus 15 oz water is 63 oz - pretty close to the 64 oz minimum that you should strive for. Just add a couple of more oz of water for the decaf equivalent and you're there!

I am 10 weeks post opt today and I drink decaf once in a while, every time I do it. It makes me sick after a few cups and my weight loss STOPS. Even if I drink more water. It completly takes me off track. So now I have made a pledge. 1 cup per month that's it.
