If you are craving shrimp eat it. I eat 4 medium sized shrimp when we go out to dinner, my hubby just adds it as a side. It looks like you need more dense protein and less shakes. I know if I drink too many shakes and do not eat enough meats I feel empty...not hungry. Protein is important and the shakes do provide it but we need to eat food too.

I started feeling real hunger at about 2 weeks out. I thought it was in my head, but it is the same hunger I feel now at 3 months out. I know it is real hunger. I guess I just healed really quickly. I had cravings for red meat, so I started eating ground hamburger pretty early out. At 4 weeks, you should eat when you feel hungry and try to have less of the shakes. Eating more real food is important.

Are you eating enough?  1/4 cup twice per day is not much.  Have you considered eating yogurt at night or something else on your plan?  Are you eating carbs when you do eat? Are you carb sensitive?  If you are not eating good carbs when eating them, that could contribute to your hunger.

I started getting TRUE hunger a week after surgery.  I was disappointed too because I was told there would be NO hunger or it's just head hunger.  Well, no it's not head hunger...

I agree you need to eat real food more often.  You'll be more satisfied once you eat solid meats and  things.

Drinking really helps me temporarily fight off hunger feelings.  When I get hungry, I drink lots of water/tea/crystal light.  It helps some & helps me get like 130+ oz in!! So it's a win win!

You're def. not alone in the hungry department.

Obviously you should follow your Doctors plan.. But does that plan allow you to get more " real " food?? It seems as though some dense protein would help you out here... Yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta, are good protein sources but, they kind of run right through your pouch. Try skipping a shake and make that meal the most dense protein you can tolerate. I try to put some kind of protein in me every two hours or so. Good luck!
