"Secrets" to success
Do you keep up with eggface? She helped me a lot back in the day. She has a blog (theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com). She is wonderful, has a lot of recipes and insight. She went on the Ricki Lake show!!! There is a video clip on her blog. She talked about her life pre-surgery and it did bring back those memories (such as teenage boys making farm noises when you walk by). I remember being afraid to go places because I was afraid I wouldn't fit in a chair or have to walk a long way. No pants fit, not even stretch ones. I am bottom heavy. My butt measured over 70 inches around. I should not be overwhelmed by 35 pounds, after overcoming that. After years have passed, sometimes you do forget what it was like, but then you remember ... ugh. OK, the motivation's back. :) :)
Severe tri-compartmental arthritis primarily. The knee needs replaced but I am too chicken to do it yet. There was already a lot of damage from too many years of being SMO when I had my RNY (both knees already audibly crunched/crackled when I flexed them) and then I aggravated a meniscus issue (previously had part of a torn meniscus removed and a small area repaired) when I followed some bad advice to "push through the pain" when I was trying to exercise to drop another 5-10 pounds.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

I have NO meniscus, and NO ACL in my left knee. literally.. it does not exist... i tore them both up in 2001, and i kept playing on them for years.. i didnt know how to stop.. after about 5 years or so, they eventually dissapeared from being torn for so long.. i still work out, jog, run, bike..
Hell, even when i was 400lbs, i fought fires with 150lbs of gear, yanking 200lb people out of fires.. just saying, you can work out a "little" :)
i bet you cant find Fat Ron in this pic.. lol
heres a secret to success that ive learned..
NEVER let anything stop you.. We are all smart people, we KNOW what is needed.. making a change is what is required.. so GO for it.. lesgoooo!
Yes, I can "workout" a little.. and a little is all I do. ;)
I have a recumbent bike at home that isn't too painful most days so I do use that, and I have a set of hand weights in varying sizes that I use to keep my arms/shoulders strong and toned, and I have some floor exercises for legs and tummy that don't involve flexing my knees... so it isn't that i sit on the couch every night, but it is definitely not what others would consider "exercise" or "working out".
Too much knee flexing (even in the water) makes it difficult to just walk the next day (especially without daily NSAIDs now).
