Had no idea getting in all my protien would be so hard!!
I could never have met my protein goals for months without protein shakes!! My Syntrax Nectar Cappuccino made with extra protein low fat milk gave me 33 grams of protein in an 8oz drink. That's a pretty good punch!

Thank you all!!! I feel so much better. I kept thinking good lord I'm failing already! Its amazing how your mind automatically goes to the negative. Really need to work on that! I will try some of the protein drinks you all mentioned. Just need to find one good one that I can have once a day and I will be up to 70g.
Thanks again! Have I mentioned how much I love this board? :)

I'm almost 2 wks out and I've been getting 80+ grams of protein a day since 1 wk out. I had a horrible time that first few days of trying to drink the protein drinks. I had an impressive stash of every kind of good protein drink available. However, I *cannot* stand the taste of anything even remotely sweet. And the Unjury Chicken Soup was way too savory, even with more water added. I was getting so frustrated. I had the Nectar Medical Unflavored Protein, but wasn't sure what to do with it, because I didn't want to add anything sweet and didn't like it on its own. The clerk at our bariatric store told me to get some of the old-fashioned Kool-Aid powder (the kind without sugar or sweeteners). She said to add a pinch at a time until it was tolerable. That worked pretty well, but still tasted a bit odd. Then I looked at a couple of Chef Woody's shake recipes and he often adds Polaner Sugar-Free Jam to shakes. So I added about 1-2 tsp (just enough to cover the taste of the protein) to 12 oz of Lactaid milk (12 gr) plus a scoop of Trader Joe's Vanilla Soy Protein (25gr) and a scoop of the Nectar Unflavored (10gr). Whiz it with an oz or two of ice in the Ninja cup and it was very tolerable. An added benefit is that Polaner's has fiber in it. Even though the TJ's soy powder says it's vanilla flavored, I really couldn't detect a flavor at all.
I've now switched from the soy (the smell was just too weird) to 3 scoops of the unflavored Nectar. To switch it up, I've added 2 T of Yoplait Light Yogurt instead of the jam and it works just as well.
My biggest problem right now is that I'm so incredibly full from the shakes that I literally have no room for meals. This morning I made a shake with 2 scoops unflavored and a tiny scoop of one of my flavored About Time's. I'm going to see if it allows me any room to eat. So far, it's a no go. It's so funny how each and every one of us has different challenges on this journey. Best of luck to you
