licking stuff..
I am almost 2 weeks post op. i was trying to be nice and make my hubby dinner since he has been so supportive and knew a home cooked meal would be nice. I made turkey spagetti. I stuck my finder in the sauce to check the tempature and licked it off. about 10 minutes later I had horrible diarreha. I am on a liquid diet and I didnt eat anything just tasted the liquid. first stomach ache never want that to happen again! has anyone else experienced this?
I'm not entirely sure it could be chalked up to the sauce.... like a PP said, probably just coincidence. I know that while on liquids I had the runs all the time and they didn't stop until I started to progress to purees & soft solids. Ya know, liquids in - liquids out!

Was it a tomato sauce? I remember being in my first 2 weeks out, having 2 small bites of tomato soup and dumping! When I asked my NUT about it she said some people are extremely sensitive to tomatoes early out and to avoid tomato soup for a good 6 weeks. I don't know if a lick would be enough to set that off, but less then a teaspoon had me going.

Every one is different and every diet is different. When i went to my 2 week post op, I was allowed to eat minited soft solids (including spaghetti sauce). Turkey Spaghetti was the first thing I made... just had about 3 table spoons of sauce and threw up all night. Later, talking to someone on here, I was reminded that tomato sauce is really high in acid and that can cause stomach aches ... its a possibility that your stomach is still so fragile, just the taste effected you! Be careful!!!
