Feeling Sick

I'm almost 2 weeks post op, and I have a quick question.  I just started "soft" foods on Thursday, I was on clear liquids from the surgery date until Thursday, and now when I eat, I don't feel full (which I know is normal) but sometimes when I'm done eating I feel sick to my stomach.  Not toss my cookies sick...just a little bit nauseous.  Does this mean Ive even too much?  I am having such a hard time now figuring out when enough is enough..lol

Thanks for your help.

Dina

I am 3 1/2 weeks post-op and I feel sick after everything I put in my mouth. I was told it will go away in a few months but I also saw a post from a lady who said shes 11 months out and still gets sick. I think its our body trying to get used to the changes. Hope you feel better soon.

You could be eating too much. How much are you eating at a time?

I keep it under a 1/4 cup.  I think that's just to much.  My DR. warned me that I have a very small pouch do to some scar tissue.  I get nauseous when I don't drink enough, but I have been getting all my water in, so I don't think that's it.  Its more of an annoyance vs. being "sick" if you know what I mean.

Thanks!

That seems like too much.  1/4 cup is 4 Tbsp and at 2 weeks post op, I was eating 1-2 Tbsp in a meal.  Every one is different, so you may not be doing anything wrong, but I personally think that's too much.  If they recommend 1-2 Tbsp, make sure you measure!

You're over filling. What portions did your doc say to be on at this time? My doc had his patients on 3 tablespoons of food per meal for the first couple weeks. We worked up to 1/4cup of food by  the second month. We were to do 1/4 cup of food until 3 months out. We worked up to 1/2 cup of food by 6 months out. You only need a little bit at this point - go easy. You can't feel if you're full right now anyway so you'll have to measure everything.
