Clothing size insanity

After being SO excited about being able to buy a pair of size 8 jeans (when I usually wear 10s or sometimes 12s, depending on the waist size), I did some shopping this morning, and I had to buy the wool boot skirt that I really wanted (and that was my primary reason for going shopping in the first place) in a size 14P!  WTH?!? I love the skirt and the way it looks and fits (and it IS from a manufacturer that makes very classically-styled wool clothing that runs a bit small), so I just cut the size tag out of the damn thing as soon as I got home, but still...  Sigh.

I also had to buy one of the two sweaters in a Large instead of a Medium, but at least I am used to that since I still wear a 36DDD bra.

I often cut the tag out of an item if I don't like the size on it. LOL. Keep in mind that every manufacturer is different. You are the same you in the size 8 jeans and the 14P skirt. I find the petites aren't just shorter, but the whole proportion is smaller too. I'm only 5 foot 1, so I need petites for jeans but before I started loosing weight I couldn't fit in petites correctly. I'm finally back in them...nice to have pants that only go to my foot and aren't trailing onto the floor.

I have noticed that the petite sizes are usually sized one size smaller as compared to the regular sizes.  I had tried on a 7p pair of jeans and they fit well, except they were short...the regular 7 was too big and the regular 5 fit just like a 7p.

The other thing I find irritating is that there is zero correlation between odd and even sizes.  If I fit in a 5...I should fit in a 4 or 6.....NOPE...have to choose a 2 and that is still sometimes too loose.

 I just dont get sizes!

i'm getting ready as we speak to go out shopping for some fall clothes. I'm so nervous about this because i just don't get sizes, and i get overwhelmed while trying. ugh!

hopefully i fare ok, because i only have like 4 pairs of pants that fit and they are all capris and it's too cold for them most days

LOL!!
I used to cut the tags out of my clothes when they were 2x and 3x. That was when I really didn't like it!
Shoot now I don't care so much. I still have to buy large tops cause the chest doesn't seem to have lost too much yet. It's all good as long as I don't ever see those 2x again!

I think a PP was on to something.... I'd kinda noticed that about petites, that often they run a bit tighter than the regular equivalents, especially in designers that insist on running small. So, yeah, cut  the damn tag out and know on AVERAGE, you are quite average - as in size 10. Wait, that make you BELOW average!!
