6th Day from Surgery and a TMI question..sorry! LOL

OK, had my surgery on Monday.  I am sore (of course) I am walking alot and moving gas (so my husband tells me.. lol)...I am urinating with out a problem, and getting in about 32oz of liquid a day now.  So the question is, I have not had a bowel movement since surgery prep day (and what a joy THAT was..lol).  I figure I have been cleaned out like no body's business, and since I'm on clear liquids still there is nothing to move.  Is that right?  Anyone else go this long without a BM?  I'm not in any pain other than the incision sites, and I don't feel constipated.  Just checking with you all.

yep. I did not have a true BM for a few days.

I am 21/2 weeks post-op and I still dont go regularly, maybe once every 3 days. If it gets to be too long you can eat sugar free applesauce or ask your surgeon what to do. Mine gave me a packet telling me what I can and cannot take. Good luck.

I have always had IBS, so BM have always been a problem. After 4 days I did an enema.. and now I have to every 3 days drink natural herb tea to go.. horrible doctor says it will eventually become normal through time.

I went a whole week before having a BM for the first time post-op...still having some BM issues...i've tried stool softeners & laxatives...just now ordered some probiotics to see if that will help me go more regularly & less painfully.

Yep your normal.  I had surgery on Wednesday and had my first BM the folowing Wednesday!

I did a little bit about 4 days post op. we had to go to another city for me to have the surgery so before we came home, we went shopping. I was in a wheelchair because I wasn't strong enough to do that much walking. When I went to the bathroom at the mall, I came out saying, I pooped!". People were looking at me very strangly but I was so excited I didn't care!

totally normal! First one took me a week.
I am 3 months out take Colace 2 times a day, add unflavored fiber to everything and drink Smooth Move Herbal Tea every other day to go every 3 days!!

Have I mentioned how much I love this website!  I love that you can come on here and post questions and get some resonable answers so fast.  Thank you all!   I'll just keep walking and moving and sooner or later it will come out.  

Had my surgery on 9/11 and BM today! NIght after surgery I expelled so much gas... and the nurse told me that I was one of the lucky ones. I haven't had any gas problems at all. No pain from trapped gas nothing. I do have some swelling from the fluids though. It will pass.
