Today has been hard, haven't felt that good.   I'm VERY tired and haven't been able to get much down and have a bit of diharrea.    I know in a few weeks I will feel much better but today has been hard.  Thought I would share.

Yes I'm drinking as much as I can and walking... following Dr. orders exactly... I was just sharing today was hard.

I know you'll feel better soon because I do. Right after surgery you feel like crap and I was certain I was dying. I'm still here chugging along. Vent all you want to thats why the forum is here.

Prepare yourself for some very rough days. You're fresh out of surgery so at first, you'll think you have more bad days than good and it'll feel like an eternity. But I swear it's not. I felt horrible. Miserable every single day. I prayed (NOT something I've done since childhood) that god would make this go away and it'd be a horrible nightmare I'd wake up from. It seemed like every day was hell. But looking back now, it really wasn't! It was one or two days here and there, not eternity. Keep your head occupied when you have rough days. It helps a lot. And keep doing what you're doing! You're doing very well with fluids and walking. So keep it up and these rough days will be a distant memory soon enough. And when you do have those days, do just what you did here. Tell us about it. That's what a support system is here for and the vets on here are beyond amazing at making you see it from the other side. You'll be fine (that was my LEAST favorite phrase these people told me when I was still very early out) soon. It sucks to hear on bad days, but it really will be good soon!

Let me know how you're doing tomorrow! It'll be more fun posting when you've lost dozens of pounds soon. :)

A few RNY post ops have "smooth sailing" with minimal issue--that was my case. But at support meetings, I hear from the majority of post ops who had a difficult time the first 1-2 months, a few as long as 3 months.  Learning to drink enough fluids, learning to exercise, fatigue feeling, depression, bouts with diarrhea or constipation, trouble swallowing foods, getting down a schedule for supplements, dealing with protein shakes, etc.  DAVE

Sorry your not feeling well.  Every day is a little different and I'm sure they will get better soon.  For me, warm pepermint tea went down easily the first few days after surgery, and still does. It can also help with diarrhea.

you know how when you don't feel well, you want toast.. yeah I'm craving toast with peanut butter....  I'm pretty certain bread is not on the full clear liquids list LOL   I'm powering through it but this is hard.

I also had surgery on September 10th. I have been doing well, following the docs orders. Yesterday was a realty check I would say. I felt nausea and overwhelmed. I felt somewhat in a panic thinking what did I do and how am I going to get my fluids down and the thought of food makes me ill. I know that in a few days I will need to get my protein in as well. Please tell me this will pass and I will feel good enough to eat mushies and drink. Any advise is welcomed!!
