Day 5 - feeling gurgly
RNY on 09/10/12
I had a gastroplasty in 2001 and am now on the waiting list for the RNY, which will probably be in 2015 (yep, I'm in canada). So I just wanted to say: Hang in there!!! I know you probably feel like you "just want to feel normal" and have a bite to eat at this point (I remember it well), but DON'T DO IT!! PLeae remember that staying on program is easier if you've never fallen off the wagon. You put your body through this extreme procedure which is bigger than the desire right this minute! If you need/ want to eat, ask yourself if it's your stomach telling you it's time, or if it's your head telling you "it's that time of day" or "I feel crappy so let's get some comfort food going".
And Please! Remind me of this when I get to your point!!!

Its normal...I had my surgery about 3 weeks ago. I remember sitting in the hospital watching tv, and wanting the shrimp and steak shown in the commercials. Our "minds" still want food and that is most of my problem. The good part is, not really being hungery or hearing your stomach growl for food. The first few weeks are tough but be creative. Try lots of new things, drinks I didnt use to like, I love now...your tastebuds should change some.
At the point I am now, I just feel very tired all the time. I think it will take the body a few months to adjust to all the changes from our gastrointestinal remodel! Good Luck to you!
