...and speaking of Metros, can we put up signs for tourists (and inconsiderate locals) of what the rules are for the escalators? Walk on the left, stand on the right.Simple,no?

1. Able bodied people that park in a handicapped spot. Same goes for the people that can walk across the parking lot without difficulty to a store then use the motorized cart once inside.
2. Full carts in the 15 items or less line.
3. Rude wait staff....go ahead and blast me but I don't tip cuz it's expected I only tip for good service!!!

Yesterday was  chronic/ invisible disease day. Please dont make assumptions about people being able bodied in those spaces. I am  married to one and have been one myself.
To  have the ability to walk and move is a gift.

Remember not all disabilities are visible. My boyfriend get nasty looks and comments when we use handicapped parking. He is a double partial foot/feet amputee. I'm just saying.....

People who drive in the left lane, when they aren't passing.
The government which requires a man WITHOUT eyeballs (born blind, eyeballs removed) to see an optometrist (not covered by insurance) to confirm that the man is still blind...hmmm...ya think?!?

Bad drivers. Which we have in abundance in the metro DC area. Please, people, just use your turn signals! And it's Maryland law against using handheld phones - not just my preference - so go ahead and keep texting because I'm SURE MHP will understand how important it is to tell your BFF that you're ROTFLMAO.

YES. No joke, drivers in our area were named the worst following a recent story: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post_now/post/study-washington-is-home-to-americas-worst-drivers/2011/09/01/gIQAysF2tJ_blog.html

I imagine it has a lot to do with the transient population here. There are a lot of politicians and government workers who aren't residents of the area, and thus have NO clue where they're going when they drive.

To contribute, my biggest pet peeve at work is rude academics. No, I don't have PhD next to my name but that doesn't give you the right to talk down to me or assume that I am incapable of performing research. I have a Masters in Library and Information Science; I assure you that I can do simple fact-checking.

Every once in awhile the editors I work with put down graduate students for what they perceive as amateur or unimportant scholarship, and that's a little bothersome too.

Another pet peeve of mine is when people can't follow directions. If I send you an itemized list of things I need before we can publish an article (i.e. contract, address information, permissions for images, a clean copy of the manuscript), what is so difficult about that? Rather than sending the completely wrong thing, just email me and I'll clarify my request.
