Work wants me to postpone
I agree with the others...you'd have to wonder if your boss undersands the seriousness of this surgery, and the health complications risked by not having it so you can start losing the weight as soon as you possibly can? It kind of sounds like she thinks this is an optional procedure...Stand up for yourself and your rights...

Two concerns come to my mind:
1. The delay in reducing health risks.
2. The potential for change in insurance coverage.
I hope that there won't be any adversity if you choose to pursue the date that you have.

I see my primary care on Tuesday. I am going to ask her to put in writing that it is essential for me to have this surgery. I can almost guarantee that she will not be happy with me putting it off again. If there is an issue with me taking the time for this surgery, oh well. If they try to fire me for it, then I will collect unemployment. The upside of that would be that it would allow me to be able to focus more on school. I don't see that happening but I have a bad habit of looking at the worst case scenario.
