You do so much for all of us!!! You have helped me through this journey and your mom knows all the good you do everyday. I love the idea of writing memories or wishes on the floating Chinese lanterns. They look like square paper kites but you light them and they float up to the sky.

God bless and sending you a hug.

Everyone on here has such great ideas I  can't think of anything to add, but wanted to say Im sorry for your loss and will be thinking of you and praying for you this week. Im sure it  will be both difficult but joyful to celebrate the wonderful person your mother was and is to you.

It's been 10 years since my mother passed away, her birthday was August 22nd, I went to work and was beyond inconsolable, I went to the cemetary, nothing made me feel better, I knew it wouldn't.  I was so beyond sad my bf relented on his no puppy ban and we got two Golden Retriever puppies on the 24th.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family! I lost my Mom and best friend four years ago...on her birthday I read a book..lol she was an avid reader...and am planning on doing the Komen walk for the cure next year with my daughter in my Mom's honor. Have a toast to her life and celebrate looking at pictures of get togethers and laughter, sometimes it helps bring a smile!

Nikki, no great ideas to add to those others have offered (though I like the idea of spending part of the day creating a photo album, memory book or just exchanges stories about your mom).

Mostly just wanted to say I'm sending you good thoughts.

A dear friend of mine passed a few years ago. I planted a Rose of Sharon bush in my yard in her honor  Every time I look at it I think of her and how much she loved flowers. It always has beautiful blooms. Sorry about your Mom.

Nik,

Having lost my father 19 years ago this November a couple peices of advice:

1.  Let it hurt like hell for a while.  The first birthdays, Holidays, Mother's Day all those are going to suck.

2.  Let that crap go!  If not it will drive you down a road you don't want to travel.  In Biblical reference read where Mary and the others go to the tomb and see the stone rolled away.  The angel ask them "Why seek the living among the dead?"

Remember her, love her memory and learn from the life lessons she instilled in you and be the best woman, or person to be PC, you can be to honor her.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Philippians 4;6-7

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
