The new actual 100% whey protein bullets - I tried one

I don't use protein supplements much anymore other than in my morning SF hot chocolate and an occasional RTD or (more usually) protein water, and I am one of the people who bought some of the protein bullets about 4.5 years ago before I knew that we could not absorb the protein in them (I threw an wntire box away!) They were pretty nasty, but when you're trying to get in enough protein, you'll endure a little bit of nastiness... But not for almost NO protein.

Anyway, I was pacing an order for calcium and stuff, so I ordered one of the Yes Whey bullets (NOT to be confused with New Whey bullets which are primarily collagen protein) just to see what it was like.  So, for those who have tried the collagen ones...

This is a bit milky in color rather than clear (the advantage is that you can immediately know whether you are getting the right kind or the wrong kind).  The texture is MUCH better than the thickened jello like texture of the old ones.  This is a little thicker than a protein shake, but not gelatinous in any way.  The taste is still not great, but is no worse than the old ones and probably better because the flavor is much less strong.

So, for those  who are early out and struggling to get protein in, you might try one.  Nashua Nutrition has them available in a single unit rather than a case.

So this is the right protein that we can have?  I'm 2 weeks post-op and would love another way to get in protein but want to make sure this is the right protein before I order.  Thanks so much for posting about these!!!!!

Yes, the "Yes Whey" is fine for us.  The "New Whey", however, is NOT (nor are the Sunkist ones, etc.).

You can also make your own protein "shots", though, by mixing the Syntrax Nectar protein powder with only 3 ounces of water (and hat is much cheaper).

I did the same thing re protein shots and had to throw away 1 1/2 boxes. I tried the Yes Whey when I got one as a sample, and it was just too syrupy sweet for me. Oh well. I love my About Time Mocha Mint protein powder.

quick question, can we have soy whey? I drink the bolthouse farms protein drinks that are next to the nakeds and odwallas. they have soy and whey in them.

Whoa, Bolthouse Farms?  Unless I am missing something, those are loaded with sugar.  I took a quick check on their website, and the lowest I found had 26 grams of sugar.  That's comparable to a candy bar.  Also, it's only 16 grams of protein, which isn't bad really, but the level of a typical protein shake at about 25 grams.

Do they make a no sugar added variety that I am not seeing?  That would be great, but if not, I think we need to stay away from these.  Hey, at least you know you don't dump on sugar!

it's all fruit juices - but you are right, no added sugar.  i wish they had left the fiber in the fruits though!
