In my mind my surgery was later in the year, due to cir****tances it's now Monday (long story).  So I find myself not really mentally ready which I'm dealing with and also a little unprepared.   I know I will need to do liquids post-op but what does that really mean?  Soup without the chunks?   I also hear SF Jello but that isn't liquid...   any idea's on what you had during this time would be greatly appreciated.. I only have a few days to get ready.

I could have chicken and beef broth and SF jello and that's all I had in the hospital.  After day 3 I could add cream of wheat and I found a great SF instant maple oatmeal at Wal-Mart, quick oatmeal was on my list.  Also unsweetened apple sauce.  I also had FF or low fat (98%) cream soup but I put it in the blender so there were no chunks.  They have a little blender that's like the Magic Bullet at Wal-Mart but it's only $20 and has all the same things, multiple cups and stuff, can't remember the brand but it was  perfect for pureeing the soup and mixing smoothies!  Good luck!  It's not as hard as it sounds you really don't want to eat anyway.  In the hospital I think I took a few bites of jello and that was it.  My daughter at one of mine and the nurse was all excited that I actually at it, sorry no that was my daughter!  Didn't your doctor's office give you some kind of packet or booklet outlining post op care?  Surprising if they didn't.  All plans are different, but I can tell you how my plan worked.  The first week post op I was on clear liquids - tea, coffee, broth, water, crystal light.  I went to my one week post op appointment and they upped me to full liquids, whi*****ludes MANY things - strained creamy soups, sugar free pudding, cream of wheat, protein shakes, etc.  I was on this for 3 days and then moved to pureed food.  I was on pureed food until I was a month out (so roughly 2 and a half weeks) and then moved to soft foods.  It goes on from there, but by then you should be educated by your doctor/nutritionist.  Hope this helps!
