At the ER
So, tonight as I was about to go to bed, I was talking about my weekend with my husband. We were laughing because I fell while camping while trying to break some firewood. I was saying how it could've been serious cause I fell on my stomach.
All of a sudden I got a sharp pain on my stomach. I mean, it knocked me down and I couldn't breath! So I say, this isn't normal, we gotta go to the ER. As soon as we get in the car, the pain goes away. So, I went back inside and laid down. Again, the pain came back, right we're my pouch would be.
We got in the car and headed to the ER. Thr whole time it hurt. As soon as we got here though, the pain went away (again). While in the waiting room it came and went about 4 times and now that I'm in the hospital bed, though I can feel where it hurts, it hasn't come back.
So now I feel quite silly sitting here when I feel fine. Has this happened to anyone else? What could this be?
I still waiting to see the doctor. Just curious to know if anyone has had something similar happen.

So they said my liver enzymes were elevated and my pressure was too low. They sent me home to rest. This is why you shouldn't drink. She asked me if I drank any alcohol, which I had. I had like 1/4 can of beer and the night before I had a shot. Then today I had some Tylenol with codeine and I guess that was enough to give me the pain I felt. She said she'd seen people who've had RNY end up in the ER after having a glass of wine. So she reiterated to me: No More Alcohol! After what I felt, believe me, I won't be drinking ever again!
Im letting everyone know what happened so that it can help people make their own choice about wether or not to drink. I made my choice, and since it wasn't a lot I drank, I thought it would be fine. But obviously it wasn't. For me, alcohol and I just don't mix.

I'm glad that it doesn't sound too serious or that it will be an ongoing problem. It seems like the ER doctor was well-informed and might have passed on some good information. Thanks for sharing your experiences with alcohol. I haven't had any alcohol since my RNY (actually in over a year or so now) and since I don't miss it, I'll probably just continue to abstain.
I hope you are feeling better now and that you don't have any more problems!
