Did better than I expected on Vacation

I just got back a couple of days ago from a 7 day southern california/disneyland trip. I STAYED AWAY FROM THE PRETZELS?! That was most impressive for me as they were my biggest weakness before surgery. I also came home to a 2 pound loss which was good because I did have a few things that weren't totally on plan. I think the massive amounts of walking I did helped that.

I took a cooler lunch bag into the park and brought string cheese, protein bars, jerky and other snacks. I really saved money on that! And the hotel we stayed at had free hot breakfast including hard boiled eggs. Was perfect.

I wasn't totally ready for my vacation to be over but I'm back to my normal eating schedule which is good. I need consistancy!!

Fantastic.  I am sitting in Curaçao, learning how to live my new life with my new stomach.  I think I have a good diet so far..but the yogurt is 'yuck', so a bit of bread with cheese.  Good news, at 6 mos that is on my plan from the doc and nut!

Glad to hear from ou hat the return home had a loss...fingers crossed.

We are going to Disney in October and I was wondering how I was going to do meals.  I did not think they allowed you to bring in food, but looks like you were able to.  Did you eat at all in the park?  Do they have any healthy choices?

They do allow outside food and drinks. I bought a nice lunch bag with a freezable pack and stuck it in a backpack. Also in the parks they have stands with fruits and hummus and other healthy options and both parks sell chili as well. Have fun on your trip!

We are doing DisneyLand this winter. Where did you stay?

Great job on handling your vacation well!

We ended up staying at the Comfort Inn on Harbor Blvd.It was less than 100 a night so it worked well for us. We go a few times a year and have stayed in plenty of the hotels and motels in the resort area and haven't ever had issues. My advise would be to find a place with free hot breakfast because that covers your first meal and they usually have scrambled eggs and yogurts and hard boiled eggs. I know desert palms has free hot breakfast too. And the Quality Inn on Katella does too. All reasonably priced. We are going back right before thanksgiving and will be staying at the Quality Inn. Have fun on your trip!

We are looking at the Hampton Inn & Suites. It has a full breakfast buffet every morning - we are bringing our 3 kids so with 5 people, including a meal is a large expense we can cross off!

Oh I have stayed there. It is right by Buca (what used to be my favorite restaurant, lol). It is nice, deffinitley a bit of a walk, maybe a mile from the park. Are you walking to the park? There is also the ART Anaheim Resort Transit, it is $4 a day per person round trip. Sometimes cheaper if you book the trip through Disney and add the transit pass on in the package. When are you going?

I need to check into it for details but it says transportation to the parks is included - another reason we are considering that one. Our kids are little - walking that far wouldn't be ideal, especially with all the walking at the parks.

We are looking at January.
