OT: birthday presents from Mother Nature

As with everything in life, there are ups and downs...

I have been having night sweats and hot flashes off and on for several months now, but have not had any night sweats for several weeks and the hot flashes lately have been very mild. This morning, however, I woke up just before 3:30 with night sweats. (Ironically, I was born at 3:14am.)  My jammies and sheets were completely drenched in sweat.  Nothing like having to change your clothes and sheets in the middle of the night.  Kind of cruel for Mother Nature to give me major night sweats for my 50th birthday, don't you think?!?

On the other hand, however, it literally almost always rains on my birthday.  On the rare occasions that it does not rain it is usually very hot and humid (typical August weather in Ohio).  Today, however, the sun is out, the humidity is at a very reasonable level, and the high is only going to be in the low 80s. Beautiful weather!  Thanks, Mother Nature.    The weather is an especially nice gift since we have tickets to a baseball game tonight.

In another "birthday present", my favorite baseball player Joey Votto is playing tonight with the Dayton Dragons (a minor league team for the Cincinnati Reds) as part of his rehab (he had 2 knee surgeries and has not played with the Reds since July 15th).  I have had a huge "cougar crush" on this very talented and handsome young man ever since he started his baseball career with the Dragons! Our seats (season tickets) are just 5 rows behind the center of the Dragons dugout and we are going to go down early to the game in the hopes that I can, by some miracle, get a picture with Joey or a personalized autograph for my birthday. (I already have a baseball he autographed).  That would make my day perfect!

Happy Birthday!

It will hurt. It will take time. It will require dedication. It will require willpower. It requires sacrifice. There will be temptation. But, I promise you, when you reach your goal, it's WORTH IT! (Author Unknown). I feel this sums up my ongoing journey to a healthier me!

Happy Birthday! I haven't had too many night sweats yet but mood swings... Yesterday I wss so bloody angry that it took a lot of chocolate and an intense TRX class at the gym to make me feel normal again.
