OT - My favorite quote (super-relevant that HAPPENS to be from the bible)

I'm accountable for my actions EVERYDAY....

I don't need a book to tell me that, but the bible like any published material has good quotes and bad quotes and items to live by and others that scare the bejeebis out of me or squick me out.

I don't freak out to read a bible quote in a post, or a quote from the torah or the quran, a buddist quote, or a pagan quote, they all have things that I can incorporate into my life :))

This is in line with a quote I often use....

With great power comes great responsibility (Voltaire, and then Spiderman!)

Anyway-back to your Meemaw's words of wisdom.  It is very true, and simple, but not easy.  Some days the "much required" seems like just too much.  Other times, easy peesy, mac and cheesy.

It is a struggle to stop at 2 cookies when the old me wants half the bag.  It is really hard when the body is sore to pu**** to go down and work out or to go out and run in 98 degree heat.  But, I must do what is required to stay the course.

As usual, you've made me think AGAIN.  Hugs.

 Truer words were never spoken.

You know half the time I go to the gym, I am muttering on the way there? I don't know why. Exercise makes me feel great. It would stand to reason then, I'd look forward to going to the gym. Not so. I mutter. Probably because my stressful life makes me THINK I need to crawl under the covers and go to bed. But unto whom much is given, much is required. So I get my ass up and go work out.

And I am thankful that I did afterward!

I can so totally relate to the muttering on the way to the gym or in my case most of the time ..getting on my bike...

Once i'm on it...BLISS, JOY, EXILIRATION...

Its getting on it..

Oh how the mind plays its tricks on us

 I'll take it from Spiderman.

The Bible translations scared the **** out of me up there.  I don't want to be beaten.

To me this Bible verse means that God is just and fair and doesn't give us more than we can handle. If we turn out to be well educated and wealthy in life, we should share that knowledge and that wealth with others by serving others and giving a reasonable amount to needy people and organizations. Someone who earns a smaller wage and is a new Christian doesn't have the same amount of knowledge and money to give as a more mature believer or someone who may be blessed with a bigger income. I also interpret this to mean responsibiity in life. We have to use our time wisely to be good stewards of our time to take care of the things given to us by God whether that be children or a spouse or  running a business ethically. We should not be complacent where we are in life but should always be learning more to be of more service to others.

This is just my take on this verse and of course others may not agree. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, Nik.  I've never really thought of it in the sense of WLS terms.  I've always heard
this quote from the Bible and applied it to my everyday life.  I pair this verse with "Faith
without works is dead".  Both of those verses remind me that I am blessed (even when I
feel like I'm not) and that it is my DUTY to bless others and help those less fortunate than I
am or those in need.

However, I'm going to think of my WLS in these terms from now on.  THANK YOU for the
eye opener!!

See you are such a better citizen human than I am. I was translating it more selfishly!

I was basically thinking that I was given something so I have to treat ME better in thanks. But you are right, we should all pay it forward in whatever way we're able.

So thank YOU for opening my eyes to something too :)

Nik I would argue that you actually do pay it forward... This surgery is hard enough and not knowing what or how to eat makes it that much more difficult.  You have a lot knowledge to share not to mention the delicious food recipes you share on your blog!  Thank you for this quote... I think I needed it today!
