5 years post-op today (warning: long!)
Lora, you have, for my entire journey, been such an inspiration to me. I always love your "straight from the hip" style. We have very similar stories-from the same exact starting weight, the arthritis, our ability to eat pretty much whatever we want-and your surgery was the day before your birthday-mine was on my 44th birthday! I, however, weigh more than you....I briefly hit 157, and now reside around 165. I don't really care what size my clothes are-I'm just so damn glad to feel great and live life healthy! I'm looking forward to the final stage of this process.....my LBL and BL is in November. I can't even imagine what life will be like without all the extra skin around my middle!!
My knees did get lots of improvement from weight loss, which has allowed me to become very active. I do think in time I will miss the NSAIDS though.....I have knee pain if I don't run regularly (I know, that sounds wierd) and if the weather is changing (hello, Isaac....I feel you today).
I appreciate your continuing to post and share your story. You have much to be proud of and I can't wait to see your new pics!
Happy birthday!!

Thanks, Kim. You may weigh more, but I know you're taller than I am!
Hopefully you will be able to remain active enough to keep the knee pain at bay. Mine feel pretty good today for a change (a nice birthday present!) I am sure you will look terrific after your plastic surgery! (Wish I had the money and guts to do something about my thighs. Maybe someday.)

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Congratulations on becoming a fully fledged vet and doing it at your goal weight - another one to contribute to the RNY success statistics!!!!
Happy birthday too - I hope you have a fabulous day - 50 is the new 30, right? 1962 was certainly a vintage year

Congrats and thanks for sharing! It sounds like you have gained a lot of wisdom about yourself and food issues in this process and it's neat that you are willing to share it. Awesome job in maintaining your weight loss and knowing what works and what doesn't work for you! (Im on the same page with cookies - can't have them around me!). This is a neat post and I look forward to seeing the pictures.
Maintenance is going to scare the bejeezus out of me. Thank you for mapping out what makes you successful in maintaining your weight. I think it is the most valueable info that vets can share. It is the place where I failed miserably(with dieting) so I pay attention to these type of posts.
I look forward to reading more of your posts and I'm sure when I reach maintenance I will ask for specific advice.
Thank you!!
