Day 1 liquid diet is killing me..I want so badly to eat something. Carnation instant breakfeast, and sugar free popsicles are just not cutting it..I don't know if I will make 2 weeks. This is rough. Anyone have a difficult time and or any suggestions on what to do ti curb my hunger pangs?

The two week pre-op diet was the WORST part of the process!  What helped me is to drink lots of water along with the CIB (carnation instant breakfast),  get lots of sleep   and keep yourself busy on the weekends!

What type of CIB are you drinking?  My surgeon had me drink the Lactose free CIB that came in a can, AWFUL stuff!

Just keep drinking lots and lots and after the third day you won't care anymore. It gets easier.  Sugar free puddings are good too but I don't know if they are on your plan.

Are those the only things allowed on your plan?

What about SF Jello, broth/boullion, vegetable soups? Fruits and salad with balsamic vinegar?

I am on day 2 of the liquid diet. I became physically ill last night. I didn't think that I would be able to do the full two weeks. Today has been much, much better though. I still have a slight headache, but the nausea and vomiting have stopped. I just had chicken broth and the warmth was a good change of pace.

try freezing some apple juice or orange juice and then eating it as a treat. Let it thaw a bit and then hack it up with a spoon. It makes you feel like you are chewing something. Also chewing gum helped me a lot.

The pre-op diet is sooooo hard!  I was on Optifast for 3 weeks prior to surgery and it was not good.  My NUT told me to make sure to get 4 shakes down a day (I couldn't though) but I have to admit that I wasn't hungry after I had them...(cause I wanted to puke!)  She also told me to drink 8 glasses of water a day minimum.  Chicken and beef broth, sugar free popsicles, sugar free pudding and jello and lots of water with crytal light AND I chewed about 15 packs of gum.   After surgery, you won't be hungry so try to stay focussed and it will be over before you know it!

Take care and good luck!

As others have mentioned, after your first few days, it does get easier-and make sure you do variety between warm and cold, I find coming home to nice bowl of warm broth is a reward for the end of the day....you can do this!!

I thought it was really hard as well. It will be worth it when its over, just keep reminding yourself of that.
