What's for dinner - Tuesday!
Two days in and I'm already down one diva. She went to grandma's house. Sigh...
But the elder and I enjoy each other's company so it will be just the two of us. I just ate a mini-meal so I'm not really hungry. Most likely it will be a late dinner for the two of us.
What that dinner is, I know not!
Here's what I've had so far today:
1. Clickabutter Frapp (Vanilla Latte Click + Skim milk + PB2 + ice)
2. 1/2 a roast chicken salad with a leg quarter, spring mix, gorgonzola, roasted tomatoes in a vinaigrette
3. The other half of the salad
I've been drinking a lot of water today. As such...I have been living in the bathroom. In fact...I gotta go again!
As I rush to the ladies room...what's on your plate today?

Chicken with broccoli for dinner. I am disappointed because broccoli keeps blocking me up and I love broccoli!
I am looking for a new protein powder since the click gave me the jitters. Kelly suggested the syntrax nectar so I am going to purchase a variety pack off ebay and see how I like the cappucino one.

This is another one of those "Nik gets concerned about new post-op friend" moment.
I was not allowed cruciferous veggies until about 3 mos. post-op and even then my surgeon told me to cook them until they were soft.
Are you following any kind of eating guidelines? It is WAY too soon for you to be eating brocolli as anything other than pureed brocolli soup or something.

Well my doc didn't specify but I will shoot him an email. He just said soft foods. The broccoli was super soft but still not sitting well. Nutritionist just said protein first but I still love me some broccoli.
Yeah brocolli usually isn't in the "soft foods" category. It's VERY hard to digest, even soft.
When you email your doc or nutritionist ask him/her to give you a list of foods that are suitable for soft foods phase. I say this because eating those types of food before your system can handle it CAN do damage. If it's fine with your surgeon then I say try whatever they say you can try but take note of what bugs you and lay off of that food for a while.
But one other thing. And I don't want to sound preachy but I really do care, girlfriend! In the beginning, you don't have much room to be trying to fit in things as filling as brocolli. You gotta focus on that protein FIRST. If you have room after your protein, fine. But PROTEIN FIRST!
I remember in my first few months post-op it felt like I ate meat and dairy to the exclusion of everything else, but my body was healing from major surgery - and yours is too! Be good to yourself, Manisha!

I emailed the dietician to see if there is a list of soft foods. I am anxious to hear what she says.
I have been down in the dumps today and I need to get out of it!! I have so much I could be doing around this house and damn if I feel like doing anything. I have not heard back from my interviews so I'm wondering if I will get the job. It's not really about food....haven't even been all that hungry (which is weird for me). Even post-op I have wanted to eat but not so much today. I'm sure it will pass...lol
Anyway, I could write a book but don't need to air my laundry on here and tell you how I'm really feeling so I'll just go straight to eats today. :)
B- watermelon
S- 1 cup of bean soup with ham
L- few bites of roast chicken salad (first time and it was yum!)
D- wendy's chili and cesar side salad
S- SF Reduced Fat Artic Blast
Guess I did okay but gotta try harder tomorrow.
Definitely need more water!!

I've been very sick with a chest cold. I haven't eaten much the past few days.
Today I've had a cup of Veg beef soup that stayed down. Yayayaya
I need to eat more and have been having a hard time of it. I look forward to these post to see the types of foods that people are eating and lets me know I will someday enjoy food again.
Thanks!!!

My trainer put me through the wringer today... awesome! I ran a 10 minute mile and sprinted a mile ( 5 minute @ 6.0 separated by 4 minutes of sprints - 20sec at 8.0,10sec rest - then repeat)
Then 3 stations, 30 seconds each, 6 rounds - wide pushups, 65lb push press, jump pullups. Whew I was totally depleted at the end of that!
B - Click w/ skim milk
B2 - Click w/skim milk
S - ww tortila fajita, canned chicken breast, pepper/onion, cheese
L - ww waffle w/ peanut butter and banana
Post gym - P28, peanut butter, raw honey
S - chicken quesadilla / enchilada whatever again
- quest
D - 2 crunchy tacos
S - mint cookie shake w/ water
Crazy carbs again, so tomorrow will have to be a little more strictly planned - tacos (and honey, and waffle, and milk, and click..... )killed 'em

I'm taking a break from takeout and microwave dinners and actually cooking for a change. It's my #1 worst habit, and I need to really focus on changing it--my reliance on convenience food.
So tonight, I grilled burgers. Got some extra lean ground sirloin and grilled 'em up on my cast iron griddle. Served them on Newman's Sandwich Thins with avocado, butter lettuce, fresh tomato, provolone, and red onion. Served with a little mustard potato salad.
I ate half a burger (split it with my daughter) and about 1/4cup of potato salad. I'm comfortably full, and boy, was it delicious. Felt very "normal" to enjoy a burger so much. Also, it was amazing to shop for the ingredients. I bought a 2-pack of ground sirloin patties, knowing I could easily feed the three of us on it. I bought a single tomato and a tiny little head of butter lettuce (literally, the size of my fist). I bought 1/2 a pound of potato salad from the deli, and it came in a tiny little cup. I'm perpetually amazed by how LITTLE food it takes to feed me and two young kids. Shopping requires a little more thought now so I don't go on autopilot and start buying whole heads of lettuce and 6-packs of tomatoes that will all rot before I can eat them.
Anyway, I'm also celebrating a little... I've lost 75 lbs, and until this morning, I didn't really wrap my head around the fact that 75 lbs is the combined weight of both my children--ages 2 and almost 7. So for the past couple years, I've been basically lugging both of my children around on my body, 24 hours a day, every day. That is unbelievable.
