Making smart choices when we have to eat fast food...
That's today's topic at Bariatric Foodie.
Now some would argue you never *have* to eat fast food. I would beg to differ. I once tried to ride it out on my way back from a long trip and my blood sugar forced me to abandon that mission after a few hours.
So whether you are a person who believes in all things in moderation or a person who occasionally finds themselves with few choices, check out today's BF Basics on Fast Food to get my picks for some of America's most popular fast food chains:

I added that to the post! (and credited "The Heather" accordingly)
For me grilled chicken nuggets are dicey. Sometimes they work, sometimes not. But they are good for folks who, unlike me, do NOT have pouches the size of Texas!

I have a girlfriend who has recently gone all gung-ho Fitness Goddess, and she launched into a tirade the other day about how anyone who values their body and really wants to be healthy would never, ever, ever eat fast food.
Whatev. If that works for her, fantastic. Kudos to her. But with a busy schedule and two kids, dinner on the run is a frequent event for us, and sometimes, the drive-through saves my sanity. So for me, making healthy choices and choosing options that I can easily modify into something WLS-friendly is an important skill.
She doesn't seem to realize that just because you're at McDonald's doesn't mean you hafta eat a Big Mac.

PRECISELY!
Yeah there is one night in particular where McDonald's is all but a given. Every other Tuesday I go straight from work, pick up the kids, take them to Girl Scouts...we don't get home until ike 8:30 or 9 (it's worse during cookie season as I am the Troop Cookie Manager). So yeah...McD's saves me sometimes.

If I eat Taco Bell I get the Al Fresco menu, usually a chicken crunchy taco al fresco. I no longer like McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Jack in the Box... my taste buds just find all of these way salty. I tend to eat a kid meal, or go for the grilled option if I do go to a fast food chain. Though sometimes I eat stuff that would be cringe worthy, but since this is a once iin a blue moon thing, I never feel guilty about it.
Thanks for posting that! I haven't hit up any of the fast food places since before I had surgery but I know I will have all those ideas in the back of my head for a time when we do. I've been hearing great things about these Wendy's salads! Ohh and I wish I had three McDonald's friend friend in front of me right now!
